    Mediocre Food, Poor Service

The food was not bad...although a little pricey for something that's not excellent. The service however is what will prevent me from coming back. After ordering our food, our waiter disappeared. My boyfriend and I were on the first floor and began dinner in a semi-crowded restaurant. We were waited on by the busboy the whole time, while the waitress was chatting away with the two bartenders in the back. When we were finishing up, it emptied out, except for a large group that was seated upstairs. I guess our waitress thought she will get better tip with them because she spent the whole time up there. The only reason we left a tip was because we hoped that she will share it with the bus boy who was great.

    Rude waiters

The food at Bombay Talkie is not bad, but for the price they charge, the quality and quantity should be much better. But that's not the reason why I'll never go back here. The waiters here are pure tip-hunters. One of them even had the nerve to tell us that we weren't "good customers" because we didn't tip them what they "wanted". Yes, shameless and rude. My question to the owner is - if you're charging so much for the food, why don't you pay your waiters better so they stop harassing the customers?!

    Once great, now...

...not so much. I've used to order from here almost every week since it opened, because the food – although never exactly cheap – was always delicious. But lately each of my favorite dishes have gradually become more bland and generic – and their recent decision to make what were once $7 side dishes available only as "vegetarian entrees" for $14 a pop is greedy and misguided. While once one of the best Indian restaurants in the city, it's now merely one of the most expensive. Too bad.

Add rice - Charge $14 instead of $8!

Let's take all the side dishes that people seem to order because they are somewhat reasonably priced and add rice to them. We can charge $14 instead of $8. Bye Bye Bombay Talkie..... Nice knowing you...

    Delicious and different

This was a terrific surprise -- just stopped in after walking the High Line. The street food and small plates were tremendously tasty and satisfying. Lamb dosa -- SO yummy; spicy beets; feather-like spinach; amazing dessert with rosewater syrup. The portions are small, but I'd rather have a smaller amount of good food than a big plate of junk.

    Nice Atmosphere and food

This was my first time here. The atmosphere is very pleasant, it's stylish, soothing, and romantic. My dining companion and I enjoyed all the food. The crab cake appetizer was excellent and reasonably priced, especially for the quality, an interesting mix fresh tasting crab meat and Indian seasoning. Food was more elegant and unique than standard NYC Indian. We didn't think the portions were small as many others noted. I'd definitely go back! This restaurant is a nice addition to the neighborhood!

    major ripoff

though the food was edible, the portions were beyond small. i will never order here again. i strongly advise you do not order from here. for $40, you get a miniscule portion of rice and the food is barely enough to fill a small child.
