Needs a lot of help
Whilst the food is pretty good it is extremely tacky to have a "PAPER" tablecloth at a supposedly high end Midtown restaurant directly opposite the 21 Club and Moma!! Some of their staff need English lessons and clean shirts! Could be much better. The toilets have no attendants and they have a lounge upstairs with zero entertainment - as I said Bombay Palace needs a lot of help and I suspect they have new owners that don't have a clue what they are doing.

be prepared to be ripped off
Food was average Indian . . . good but nothing special. We ordered beers with dinner. Small beers were $10 each. We asked about this and the waiter smiled and said, "you ordered beer, this is the charge." Just know what you are getting: average Indian food at extrememly high prices and owners that will take advantage of you any way they can. At least now I know to never visit here again. You have been warned!

Nice vibe but...
It has a nice upscale vibe, but the food is quite bland.

Consistently Excellent
Friends and I have been dining at Bombay Palace over a period of several years and always leave more than satisfied. The set-price menus are a wonderful value, providing all the side dishes and a good selection of dishes for each course. Atmosphere and service are very good, and the food is plentiful and tasty and can be modified if "hot and spicy" is too much for someone's taste. Also has a lunch buffet for $14.95. Ate there again last evening, and we'll be back!

tasty food but small servings
i had the chicken tikka marsala, which was pretty good (but a tad bit spicy for me). you have to pay $4.25 for plain steamed rice and the price only goes up from there if you want saffron rice, etc. the servings are quite small, so if you are super-hungry you should order naan (the clay-oven bread) and maybe something else. There were only about 6 pieces of meat. i didn't encounter any poor service. service was actually quite attentive. water refills were quick and there was someone hovering nearby at all times that we didnt have to wait for service. the atmosphere was quiet and there were nice paintings and a huge fishtank with some pretty amazing fish. overall, it was a nice dining experience but the servings were small. i've had better indian but ive also had worse.

Best Tandoori dishes. Service needs help
Went for friend's birthday! Service was not good, the waiters had trouble explaining what a tandoor was. Thank god I was there to help my non-desi friends. However the tandoori chicken kabab's and lamb was amazing! We enjoyed the artwork as well.

delicious, but
the food was great. good variety. a bit pricey but overall worth it. the ambiance is very fancy, but don't be intimidated. waiting staff ok. one waiter spilled an entire glass of water on my friend and his food and they offered nothing (not a new chicken dish or free something), but despite the little mishap, the wait staff is very friendly. and the food is tasty. definitely worth at least a one time visit if you're into indian food!
