    Old reviews

I looked at this page because I wanted to see how late they serve tonight. Then I looked at the reviews: Not pretty! They were also ALL old reviews. I live in the neighborhood and have probably been there a dozen times since they opened. I've had dinner multiple times at the bar and of course seated in the diningroom as well as outside in warm weather. Granted at times the service seems a bit herky-jerky, but in fairness overall the experience is always positive. They have an extaordinary selection of wines by the glass and truthfully, I've never had a bad meal there. Additionally, people I have been there with never commented negatively. This is certainly not a 4 star restaurant and granted there are better restaurants in the area. But they have fair prices, a nice/ unusuall decor and an interesting menu accompanied by a good vibe. It's worth giving it a shot. BTW... I have absolutely no connection to this resataurant.....Just a happy patron.

    Miles away from Italy

First, when you forget the apertizers (Carpaccio di Manzo al Tartufo at 12$ each) you should say sorry and offer some kind of compensation - like offering free espresso after the dinner. Second, as a guest it's nice to see what's on your plate. My Paillard di Pollo al Rosmarino looked like a salad (the rosemary chicken was hidden), while everything on my gfs Pappardelle al Ragu d’Agnello had one color: brown. The place looks great, but the service and food was far from what I view as Italian.

    Left once/stayed once

Glad to see I am not the only one who leaves places on principle. I walked in one night with my gf and the hostess was not even concerned to make eye contact or address the fact that myself and 2 other parties were waiting there. They were also blasting music. I walked out without any thought because I don't eat anywhere that the FOH has no care. Flash forward about 2 months my gf actually "tricked" me into eating there for lunch (didn't realize it was the same place til we had already been seated and figured why not). The server was fine, I ordered the rigatonni and it was actually very delightful, pasta cooked perfectly...I would go again but if I ever saw poor service again I would be done with this place for good. And after reading the womans "stroller story" and other service complaints...I actually might skip it for a while again.

    Poor service, host

We went there today to sit outside and enjoy a meal at lunchtime for my husband's birthday. There were several tables available outdoors, many that were on the side street out of the way. In fact, we saw another couple with a baby in a stroller over there which is why we decided to stop as we had our 3 week old daughter with us. The hostess told us that there was nothing available for us with room for a stroller and if we wanted to stay we'd have to leave her on the other side of the barrier on the sidewalk...seriously? Those other people were allowed to be on the inside area of the outdoor seating with their stroller. We decided to go somewhere else. I've eaten here before and the food was excellent. I should mention that we tried to make reservations for a party of four when my parents were in from out of town and were told that reservations were for parties of 6 or more and to not bother to show up to walk in because there would be nothing available. I think I'll go elsewhere after these two incidents.

    poor service, manager

I was excited to see this place open in my neighborhood but it was one of the poorest experiences I have had in years. The hostess was very friendly and sat us immediately. The waiter was nice but had no idea about the wine or menu. I have worked in restaurants for the past 15 years and am very patient with new waitstaff but he was not ready to be taking tables on his own. We would ask a question, he would leave to find the answer and be gone for 10 min. The table beside us sat, ate 2 courses and was paying the bill by the time we got our bottle of wine. Salads were good, entrees not so much. My pasta came out stuck completely together. It had been a long day and we both just wanted to enjoy some wine, dessert and chat so after dinner we moved to the bar hoping to end on a pleasant note. The bartender was very nice and interested in discussing the wine list, he brought us 3 different sips of wine to taste but they all tasted off. The wine system they have requires all of their wine by the glass to be opened ahead of time, they are not going thru it fast enough and it is spoiling. In the middle of our tasting the manager called the bartender over and when the bartender returned he informed us his manager said we can not taste anything else we just need to order. This was the last straw. The pleasant bartender was undoing our poor dining experience and we would have ordered another bottle of wine, dessert and left happy because of the pleasant ending not the rough beginning. Instead we left feeling like we just wasted $100 and still wanted a decent wine and dessert. Do not waste your money at this place, I guarantee you will have a better experience anywhere else.

    Really, Bocca?

Why would you intentionally offend potential customers? We tried to walk-in for a table for 5 at 6:30 with the restaurant empty. We were told they could seat us only if I promised to be out in an hour. We walked out on principle and ate italian next door. After dinner, we came back and the place was still over half empty. There are places in the neighborhood I have been supporting for over 20 years. Now, Bocca will simply not be one of them.
