    Extremely disappointing

Wife and I have been wanting to try this place for a while. Finally last night we walked in and asked to see a menu, Host told us best Italian food he's ever tasted so we went for it! The atmosphere is great, the service is good but the food left a lot to be desired. It wasn't unappetizing, but I don't think this host gets out much! The items on the menu sound amazing but when they come to your table they are just blah! I think the ingredients are great but their dishes are bland. I've definitely had better. Definitely not worth the money! Again great place for some wine and MAYBE an app but wouldn't waste my money on dinner. I don't mind spending money on good food but this place definitely does not deliver!! Oh well u live and u learn!

    Disappointing

Yes, folks. I've lived in this neighborhood for over 10 years, and have seen many restaurants come and go. I really hope this doesn't take up valuable Manhattan realty space for much longer. The attitude the staff has is akin to airport security, an MTA employee, or an exclusive waiting-list restaurant. Only thing is: this is Hell's Kitchen!! The hostess said we'd have to wait 20-25min for a table for 7. We waited over an hour. She said she'd call us when the table was ready, and she did. We left the bar across the street, because their bar was too full for 7, and when we returned, she said we needed to wait until the table was ready. The people weren't even done yet. We waited, and waited almost an hour and half. Bad hostess skills. But at least she was cute. The waiter said hello, and was really cute as well. That's about as much as they had going for them. The waiter said good bye to each person of a party of 12, standing at the foot of our table, as we were patiently and eagerly waiting to hear the specials he started to mention but failed to capture everyone's attention because we were just too hungry and irritated already by the obvious lack of service. The waiter took our drink order. 20-minutes, drinks arrive. We don't see the waiter for another 20 minutes, and finally he realizes that we've been waiting such a long time that he kindly takes our order. He seemed nervous taking our order, and I gave him a reason to be nervous. I kindly asked that our wine glasses be removed from the table, as no one ordered wine, and we all had ordered cocktails. Since I didn't know if we'd be seeing the waiter again, after placing the food order I kindly asked for the check too. In between waiting 20minutes for drinks and another 27min for the food, I realized that our original waiter (who I can't remember his name) never once came back to check and see if everything with the food was okay. Not one person came to say hello, or apologize for our wait.

    Never Again

Our dining experience on April 15: We had an 8:45pm reservation and were told when we arrived at 8:40pm it would be 15 minutes. We waited patiently for 15 minutes and then were told it would be 5 more minutes. After waiting for 30 minutes, and mind you we were not Walk-Ins, we had a reservation, we asked for the Manager to come over). We thought a place as nice as Bocca di Bacco would at minimum have consideration for its patrons and perhaps offer us something to drink while we waited. Nothing. Not only was nothing offered, but the manager didn't even have the respect to come and speak to us-- at all. In all, we waited 40 mins with a reservation and were offered nothing while we waited or once we were seated. We were extremely surprised and grossly disappointed by the complete disrespect the manger has for his clientele and will never go to this restaurant again. The food was eh (my scallop pasta special for $26 had one and a half scallops in it --literally and the pasta tasted like boiled pasta), the wine was good. One star for the wine and our great waiter, who was lovely!!!

    Wonderful meal

My friend and I celebrated our birthday dinner here last night and I had a most delightful meal -- beet salad app, followed by what I'm guessing was designed to be the "low carb" dish -- a plate of prosciutto with asparagus and a poached egg with brown butter and parmesan cheese. Delish! Saffron cream brulee and chocolate cake also spectacular. The only negative the whole night was the fact that there was no TP in the ladies' room, resulting in a clogged toilet.

    Lost its charm

Used to live in the neighborhood and go here when it first opened. Went back last night, had a 10pm reservation, got sat at 10:30 with no apologies. The service was spotty and they seemed disinterested b/c it was the end of the night (the place was packed). Food has gone down hill. My usual fav's are not longer "stand out" just "good". I would save your $$ and eat elesewhere. Sad to see something get so popular they no longer notice the small things that attributed to its success..fantastic italian food, great service, nice warm atmosphere. Now it just feels like a post-theater go to/nightclub.

    great service

First time at this restaurant and the one thing my husband and I commented on was the GREAT service. Previous service reviews may have accounted for a big improvement. The food was very good, especially the short ribs but as one reviewer stated it was almost too fast. All in all a good experience and we would return.

    good food, horrible service

The food is excellent but unfortunately the service can be best described as "diner-like". Our waiter was juggling at least 6 tables at a time. When we were first seated we told him that would first order a cocktail and then a bottle of wine and we would like to take our time. Upon getting our cocktail he wanted to take our order. I asked him if they had any specials and he said yes. But I had to ask since he would not have given to them if I didn't. No other table around us received specials. We started off with the cheese appetizer and this was excellent. We love cheese and this cheese course was described as the chef's choice. We wanted to know what we were tasting but the waiter was no where around to describe the cheeses. When he arrived he wasn't sure until he went back to ask the kitchen what he had served us. Our bottle of wine that we had ordered was not even opened at the table. He opened in the wait station which was is poor in any restaurant especially one that touts itself as a wine bar. After opening the wine we proceeded to enjoy another appetizer and then our entrees, all were excellent. We never saw our waiter again until the check was presented. Again the food, atmosphere, wine selection and price are very good but is was not worth the experience due to the horrible service. We will not go back!
