    lovely little place!

service is fantastic, as was the eggplant timbale (i was swayed by the previous review, actually, so thank you for suggesting it as i LOVE eggplant so much). i also enjoyed the crispy polenta topped w/ mushroom & house made sausage (i believe it was a special for the evening). unfortunately, as i felt ill (not at all related to the food), i had to depart early, and the server was gracious enough to knock the entrees off the bill since they didn't make it to the table before i had to leave. i'm only saddened because they didn't have the maialino available the night i went, and i was REALLY looking forward to it. i was a bit crushed.

    OMG!

D-E-L-I-C-I-O-S-O!! Everything. Don't miss the Eggplant Timbale ... best I've ever had. Beet "ravioli" is amazing. Pastas are authentic and delicious. Good wine list. Panetone bread pudding is a delectable dessert. Great for a date or dinner with friends. Go!

    Authentic Italian

I am a faithful reader of menupage reviews and always strive to give objective ones. I found this restaurant through this website because I was looking for a good place to take my future daughter in-law for lunch when we came into the city to shop for wedding things. Since she had lived in Italy for a time, I knew she would appreciate a good Italian meal. We loved this restaurant! I had the pappardelle with lamb and she had penne with the puttanesca gravy. Both dishes were just like your grandmom would have made if you were Italian. The noodles in my pappardelle were to die for, and the lamb in the gravy was yummy. My dining companion's meal had perfectly cooked pasta and a delicious Italian tuna/olive gravy that had us passing food back and forth to each other. The bread with a bruchetta/olive oil spread was delicious, as was the grilled calamari salad that we both ordered. We ended the meal with panna cotta, an amaretto-flavored flan that we both loved. The waiter was fun to talk to and went the extra mile to get us to our next destination. He also was very patient in explaining the wine list. We ordered quartinis of two different white wines and loved how he chilled the little carafes in ice filled glasses on our table. I would definitely come back here and recommend it to anyone wanting a delicious meal in a relaxing setting. Oh, and my future daughter in-law verified that the food rivaled what she had enjoyed during her time in Italy.

    Nice NYC Dining Experience

If you want a great Italian meal, an intimate place for a date, or to get a cheaper NYC dining experience this is the place to go. Apps are delicious, try the Veal Meatballs. Entrees range from the perfect portion of imported pasta to more expensive meat dishes. You can easily get out for $25/pp, but split an app and one of their creative deserts and you're looking at $40 or so but a nice three course meal. I love the intimate atmosphere, perfect for a date or small groups. The only downside is the head waiter is kind of a jerk.

    Great place for a date

I went there recently and thought the restaurant was a great place to bring a date. I couldn't make up my mind on where to go and am glad that I decided to come to Bocca. The atmosphere proved to be great - we were kind of secluded but at the same time it wasn't dead quiet in the place - a good mix. I noticed that in general there is a good distance between all of the tables. The food was really good and the portions were good sized (I had the tuna and she had the salmon). The wine was great, and the selection was good. Desert and coffee at the end was a great way to end the dinner. The service was very good too. In general I would recommend Bocca for a date - I liked it.

    Simply amazing!!

I went here on a recommendation last night and was a little skeptical despite a glowing recommendation from a friend. I was blown away. The food was simply amazing - I couldn't help but make yummy noises! Good, quality ingredients, well prepared in a relaxed atmosphere. What more could you want? I've been telling all my friends about it!
