service was fine
I recently ate at Bobby Van's and found the food and service to be exceptional. The quantity of the food was excellent . My only complaint was that their prices are high compared to Mark Joseph,Capital Grille and Wolfgang's all of which are nearby.

Disapointing service and management
The food was decent. The wait staff and management on the other hand... The waiter tried to force food on us and was offended when we didnt take his recommendation. A waiter spilled a cup of melted butter down a sleeve and the wait staff laughed and manager did nothing. Would not return for anything.

poor service
We just moved in the vicinity and decided to dine on a Friday, this happened a week ago. Arrived at 8pm were promptly greeted and seated. the waiter served us our drinks, wine and took our order he was nice and it was great till there. We saw him leave and after this nobody cared. A table of 11 was seated served app and then their entree we did not even get our apps wish we had that waiter he looked like he knew what he was doing. Quite a few waiters were walking around so they were not short staffed looked liked the staff did not care. Manager bought us some side dishes, etc.

They have to work on it
I've been to other Bobby Van's restaurants and they are excellent but this location needs to work on their delivery (and train and cheer up some of their staff). It's just plain old not as good as their brother ansd sister locations. The space is absolutely beautiful but they are lacking in several areas (some they can control and some they can't). Drink at the bar before dinner: Moody bartenders in a room dominated by a klatch of apparantly regular patrons that seem to think that they own particular stools and locations at the bar (mainly retail brokers and operations types). Service at dinner: They have a couple of nice older and very welcoming waiters that do a nice job but the bus boys appear to not have any kind of training or supervision. They have repeatedly rushed me on my wine (compulsively filling my glass) but are nowhere to be found when it's time to clear plates or refill water. Food: The steaks, vegtables and potatos come out luke warm on cold plates (repeatedly). If they work on it a bit this place could be the best of all the Bobby Van's restaurants as it's a great space. Currently it's a lagard.

Steak Sandwiches are a bad
The steak sandwiches used to be large medallions of beef, now they are more like chopped meat in a cheese steak. Also they are very slow to get large lunch orders out and are rude.

downtown must visit
Have been visiting this restaurant for years but always sat upstairs in their steakhouse. Recently had some family visit and after their visit to the stock exchage they mentioned they would like to see the bank vault downstairs so we decided to have lunch there instead of going upstairs. We did not have a reservation but were still sat imediately greeted quickly and had our drinks served in minutes of sitting down. Food quality is the same they also had more lunch selections on their menu. The service,friendliness and attentiveness far exceeds what I have recieved upstairs eventhough the whole restaurant was full. It was great my family was impressed what more could one ask for thankyou Bobby vans restaurant exellent job.

Best of Restaurant Week
Great restauraunt with food served very unpretentiously. Nice restaurant week menu with great choices and nice size portions. Even the service was exellent besides the waiter the manager also passed by and asked how everything was which was not like the indifference we observed in some of the other restaurants we dined at.
