downtown must visit
Have been visiting this restaurant for years but always sat upstairs in their steakhouse. Recently had some family visit and after their visit to the stock exchage they mentioned they would like to see the bank vault downstairs so we decided to have lunch there instead of going upstairs. We did not have a reservation but were still sat imediately greeted quickly and had our drinks served in minutes of sitting down. Food quality is the same they also had more lunch selections on their menu. The service,friendliness and attentiveness far exceeds what I have recieved upstairs eventhough the whole restaurant was full. It was great my family was impressed what more could one ask for thankyou Bobby vans restaurant exellent job.

Best of Restaurant Week
Great restauraunt with food served very unpretentiously. Nice restaurant week menu with great choices and nice size portions. Even the service was exellent besides the waiter the manager also passed by and asked how everything was which was not like the indifference we observed in some of the other restaurants we dined at.

Good for a business lunch
I went to Bobby Van's on Broad St. during Restaurant Week for lunch with 7 coworkers. The food was really good, the crab and shrimp salad was fresh and flavorful. The fried calamari was a bit soggy, but still good. The portions were huge for a lunch meal. The waiter was nice and attentive. This is a good place for a business lunch or dinner, not for meeting up with friends or a date.

Very Disappointed!
My friends and I were really excited to dine here given all the positive reviews instead we left feeling very disappointed. The hostes was very pleasant, the atmosphere was nice and the place looked clean. The areas of disappointment were: The waiter – didn’t seem very attentive or friendly - as he was taking our order he was looking elsewhere and it was a different waiter who asked us if we wanted more wine, continued to look after our table and smiled at us from time to time. The wine glass was not clean – there was grease smudge on the outside (the wine looked fine so I didn’t request another glass) The food – 1. was not hot. 2. I ordered the filet and it seemed as if after it was cooked salt was sprinkled on it (a bit too much of it) and the mashed potatoes had way too much butter. 3. One of my friends ordered the veal chop which had no taste whatssoever and the fries that accompanied the dish looked old and were very oily. 4. My other friend ordered the salmon that was just ok. After that we hoped that the dessert would win us over but even that didn’t make the mark; cheesecake is cheesecake, the crème brulee was a bit grainy and creamy rather than being a custard texture. Sorry but I would’t visit again nor would I recommend it.

Bobby Van's Steakhouse
My father and I go to Bobby Van's every time we visit the city! this is a fabulous restaurant and also great for dining client-el. We always order the steak and it is BY FAR the BEST STEAK i've ever tasted and we've been to numerous steakhouses! The service was great the last time we went we met 6 or 7 clients and the service was exceptional we had 3 waiters waiting on us and the service was perfect! I highly recommend the silver oak wine it is a great complement to the steak!

financial district mus visit
Their steak house that is upstairs is a dissapointment , with unfriendly and glum service. Must say that with each visit this restaurant has gotten better for me,now we only visit their grill since we feel we have more choices even though I end up ordering the ribeye mostly. It is here that I have recieved the best service in NYC attentive and perceptive with out being overwehlming. Coincidentally the last two times we had the same waiter a bald heavy set guy. I must say we had a wonderful time he had a quick wit, winning smile and great table presence , he really made us feel welcome. So when one manages to find a nice ambiance (CLUBBY) great service, good food at a very fair price I feel it is importantant to give credit where it is due aswell as make my fellow diners aware of this great restaurant.

Good foods, don't like the service
The foods were just wonderful. It is the best shrimps and steaks I have ever had. But the service was horrible! We went really early (6ish) so basically it's just us, but it took the waiter probably 20 minutes to bring us the bread and water. Another 30 minutes or so before the entrees arrive. Don't understand why everything's so slow!
