    Will return!

Visited restaurant during restaurant week and had the petit filet migon with mashed potatoes. The entire meal was wonderful and the service was great from the moment we walked in until we left. The apple pie was very good, loved it! Will return and the price wasn't bad for the quality of the food and service, enjoyed it.

    Definately go to Bobby Van's!

My sister and I were on holiday in New York from London and ate at Bobby Van's before going to see Wicked on Broadway. Bobby Van's is quite a smart, up-market restaurant and the food was delicious! I had the chicken with mashed potato and spinach with a really tasty jus, I couldn't manage to finish it all but I really wanted to! I shouldn't have eaten the bread before the meal came. The waiters were really friendly and there was a nice atmosphere, although we were sitting by the window and the radiators were really hot! I would definately recommend going to Bobby Van's.

    Absolutely nice dinner

Made reservation on line and asked for a "nice table". Maybe they didn't get my note or I don't understand how restaurants rate their tables because we were seated at an odd table in the middle of the floor and were frequently bumped by the waitstaff getting to other tables. This was with a restaurant only about 40% full. Other than that I can't complain, quite the opposite. The service was great, our waiter was friendly, relaxed and made very nice wine suggestions. My husband had the sirloin which he really enjoyed. I had the seared tune and very much liked the flavors although a slightly too seared for my taste. Other dishes were a big plus: caesar salad was really good as were the mashed potatoes and the tiramisu was delightful! All in all I definitely recommend this place. We've ate at many "top" steakhouses in the area and this one certainly ranks towards the top. I'll definitely try out their other locations.

    Can't Beat The Squid

We had a business lunch here. from the looks of it, so did everyone else in Manhattan. Very, very crowded. We had made a reservation and were promptly seated. I ordered the sweet chili calamari as an appetizer, and it was fantastic! Sweet, spicy, and enough for four people. For entrees, two os us ordered salads (the chopped shrimp and Asian chicken), one person ordered a burger and one person the t-bone steak special. Everyone was very pleased with their lunches. The prices are not cheap, but the portions are enormous. Unless you're truly famished or can split them with your tablemates, you might want to skip the appetizers.

    After-show drop-in..GREAT

THIS is the Bobby Van's location I MEANT to REVIEW (50th at 6th/7th), not the other...(As a preface, I read many reviews of OTHER NYC restaurants prior to our trip, and they were mostly severely critical, so this place was a delight to find! ) We were in NYC the week before Christmas. We (me , wife, & 2 college age kids) happened upon Bobby Van's after an 8 pm show. Looked like a great atmosphere thru window, albeit very crowded, but walked in anyway. Got a table immediately near window. Bar and other tables were crowded but in a "good way", atmosphere had lots of energy, and loudness was the typical NYC "fun" kind...we had a blast, food was excellent for all four, and service was exemplary. My sirloin steak was one of the best ever! Our table was surrounded by waiters all evening, & water glasses were never even left half-full. Table was serviced perfectly, despite the full capacity. Waiter was a lot of fun, and even brought us a dessert on the house after one of the dessert menus opened to a blank page (he was embarrassed). We wanted to go back a second time, but our schedule didn't allow . We'll go back next Christmas for sure...first night! My 18-yo daughter said "This was the perfect restaurant!" A great memory. Pricey, but we had a blast, and would return!

    Devine!

The petit filet mignon was devine! It cut like butter and melted in your mouth. Only downside was being shown to a side room away from the main restaurant leaving us with no atmosphere It was cold and although we pointed it out to the waiter nothing was done about it. Would definitely go again but make a point of ensuring we weren't shown to the same table location.

    Not worth it

I have eaten there 3 times for lunch now at the urging of co-workers and have a general feel for the place. The burger, a less expensive choice, was overcooked and tasteless. The fries were cold, limp, and greasy. Another time I had the steak sandwich which was chewy and overcooked but at least the fries were warm, but still greasy. And the last time I decided to give the ceasar salad with tuna a try. If a steakhouse couldn't get meat right maybe fish was worth a try. My mistake, dressing from a jar, and overcooked and underseasoned tuna.
