Forget the food. You ain't there for the food. You're there for the drinks, the "Happy hour" and the "eye-candy". Yeah, yeah...I know...I'm a chauvinist pig, but a pig who knows his foxes and this place has some of the best pickings in the city, especially on a balmy night. The bar-tenders are quite able, and if you're really hungry, the service is very good. The food is just....well, blah. The atmosphere is as close to magic as you will find in the Apple.

Wow the Boat Basin Cafe...good times good times. I love this place its so underground with so much more potential. The staff is the greatest from the attentive busboys to the incredible waiters. Bartenders are nice and drinks are a great deal with the amazing view of the Hudson. The sunset is mesmerizing and breathtaking. It is very dog friendly. Great burgers and the frozen drinks are a must in a hot summer day. Everybody must go!

I took a few folks from work here for lunch, and we had a great time. The waitress was lovely--fun and competent-- and the food was excellent--burgers, salads, etc. Great views and breezes from the river... Just right, all the way around.

You go here primarily for the atmosphere and a cold drink...not the food, it's overpriced and pretty lousy. They have some drink specials during the week, but at the bar area only...so be prepared to stand because there aren't a lof of seats. Also, people can bring their dogs here. I am a dog lover but not when they are peeing on the ground next to you...just wanted to give a heads up that it could happen. You think this place would be the ideal place to play beer pong or flip cup but they tend to not allow it. My friend and I stood at the bar and watched baseball and the bartenders were very friendly & attentive. I'll go back on a weekend afternoon. It's a bit out of the way but it's nice and less expensive than drinking at the Central Park boathouse.

Beautiful Monday afternoon on the East side why not take a trip to the West Side and enjoy having lunch outside. The Boat Basin Cafe was a big disappointment. Since it was Monday there were tables on the water side and not a crowd.. However there was no service either. After being seated by someone wearing a tee shirt naming him. HOST we waited for 2o minutes That was our second mistake. We asked him to send a waiter to our table. He said she would be with us soon. Watching her attend to tables seated after we had arrived we decided to leave! The view of the Hudson River and New Jersey was not worth the aggravation.

I've lived on the UWS for a few years, and I come to the Boat Basin every summer. I brought some out-of-town friends here for dinner/drinks yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised by the improved service. We were seated right away, got some pitchers of beer, and had our (decent) food-- without ever once feeling rushed. Best its been in years. Keep up the good work!

I love the fact that dogs are allowed at the boat basin. People are more unsanitary to be near other people, than dogs, from the species barrier you can't catch anything from a dog, don't listen to whining reviewers who are clearly not dog lovers. This place is great, and if you have a dog, BRING IT ON!!! You will love the atmosphere, the food, and the service!!! I can't say a bad thing about this place.
