    Great food near Carnegie Hall

Bluedog has some of the tastiest and healthiest food in midtown and provides solid value for the money. I had a quiche and soup combo that was easily enough food for two meals. They may be slow at peak times, but mid-afternoon I had my food in record time--seriously, much faster than chinese take-out, which is usually the fastest I get. I've also been enjoying their coffee drinks for many years. You can't go wrong and they have many vegan and vegetarian options as well. Go!

    Favorite lunch place in NYC

I love this place. The food is excellent and the service is super-friendly (albeit slow on occasion - calling 10 mins ahead is highly recommended, especially if ordering a hot sandwich). I eat here pretty much everyday and the staff are always welcoming, warm and friendly.

    subpar delivery service

The food was freeing by the time it got to us because it took the restaurant an hour to deliver 2 sandwiches. Never order delivery from them!

    yum

For all those skeptical of lunch spots in NYC, no need to be when grabbing a bite at the Blue Dog! This place is hands down the BEST I've found in the neighborhood. The food is always fresh; the service outstanding; and the variety of fresh brewed iced teas and loose (YES, amazing LOOSE TEAS for all you tea lovers) are impressive! I've been living on the tuna melt (G-4), turkey chili, and mini brownies for weeks! Thank you blue dog for opening in Midtown!

    Love Blue Dog!

I absolutely love this place! The staff is very helpful and everything is very healthy! If you work in the neighborhood this is a great spot to grab a quick bite and head back to your office. The only "bad for you" food is their AMAZING cupcakes that are to DIE FOR!!

    Desperate for healthier options

The little shop is beautiful (especially considering what these little walk-in places usually look like) and the menu is much larger than expected. I was offered a taste of the chickpea & spinach soup while I was browsing and immediately ordered it - it was delicious! The only drawback is that they are very slow - definitely not a good feature for a NYC lunch place. I'm hoping that will improve over time. I would definitely visit again.

Great Food, Poor Service & Customer Orientation

We were so glad when Bluedog opened to provide more variety for the neighborhood. The food is great, but alas, the people are not customer focused or friendly. Recently I phoned in a sandwich order and asked to pick it up in 5 minutes. When quizzed if I couldn't wait for 15 minutes, I said no as I had a conference call beginning. When I picked up the order, I got a lecture from the cashier about giving them more notice and making things so hard on the guys in the kitchen, as well as making the people in a long line wait longer to order. I've had no problems with other places in the area, including the Carnegie Deli, which is much busier. We all know that we place phone orders to AVOID waiting in lines. Additionally, I ordered a very simple sandwich: egg salad on toasted ciabatta. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I doubt that I'll return to the cafe. The staff has also often seemed overly harried and disturbed when the cafe is busy. I don't expect, when buying food, to put an establishment's needs before my own, since I am the customer.
