I would definitely recommend this cafe. It's good value for money (anyone who lives in NY knows good breakfast is hard to find on the cheap) but I also wouldn't call this place inexpensive (15 dollars a plate.) What makes this place worth the money is the food and atmosphere. It's run by genuine french staff and the food is gourmet. I've only tried the breakfast, but it was very good. The eggs (scrambled) were cooked to perfection, the best I've had in a long time. That being said, they were poorly seasoned, if at all. Anyone on here saying the biscuits were bad either don't know what a biscuit is or were spoiled by southern home cooking! THEY WERE AMAZING. The bacon was genuinely the best I've ever had and I have a lot of bacon. The sausage was a huge miss. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. If you choose between bacon and sausage (even if you're a sausage lover) get the bacon. They also give you a huge portion size and a complimentary glass of fresh squeezed OJ. This isn't the kind of place you go often for a quick cheap meal, but on a special occasion or for a lazy sunday it hits the spot! Also it was 9am on a sunday and no reservation needed. We just walked in.

    Go for Dinner

I have been to this popular spot for brunch several times and have never been disappointed. About a month ago a neighbor urged me to go for Dinner and am I glad I did. Their menu satisfies all tastes and is a welcome addition to a neighborhood abound with either fast food or very expensive restaurants. I have recently had my third Dinner at Bluebell Cafe with a group of friends on a very hot summer night. I had the Heirloom Tomato and Burrata Salad Appetizer and the most delicious Scallops - cooked to perfection. One of my friends had the Salmon cooked with crispy skin-on and served at perfect medium temperature and paired with very tasty pesto-whipped potatoes. Others at our table had Pulled Pork Sandwich, Brie Burgers and French Fries - more Fries were ordered for the table as we all kept stealing them. We shared Red Velvet Cake(best I've had) and a wonderful Apple Galete - both served with their homemade Ice Cream. Their Wine and Beer List , though small, is well chosen and should not fail to please all. Servers were young , sweet and attentive. Please keep up the good work Bluebell Cafe and continue to grow as we need you to stay in our neighborhood.

    Mediocre

Ate the steak & eggs this morning. It was a good portion size, but it lacked taste. It was like it was completely unseasoned. However, the buttermilk biscuit was pretty good.

    Delicious homemade food, great service

I live in the neighborhood and have eaten there at least 8 different times now. Enjoyed all my dishes every time, as did all my friends who were there with me. The service is very good and the people who work there are extremely nice. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner there and have never been disappointed. All good and very fresh food. I am very surprised to read bad reviews here. This place is great.

Poor food and service but nice ambiance

I wasn’t impressed when this place opened but I gave it another chance last night, no improvement at all. Ordered mussels entrée as an app to share with a friend of mine. Not only was the sauce bland but the mussels were far from fresh, actually smelled rotten. After I sent them back the chef didn’t have the decency to apologize but note they came in yesterday and were fine. I’m still nauseated by the thought of the smell. Entrees we’re better but I need to note the pan seared mahi mahi was quite small and served in almost 1/3 cup of olive oil, way too much. Oh, and my water glass was never refilled until after I got the check. Nice atmosphere but I will not return.

    Very enjoyable

I agree it is a great addition to the neighborhood. Service was good and food was very nice. i think the jam is homemade and maybe the biscuits too. I'll be back!
