Blue Water Grill

We arrived close to midnight for a business check-in. Even at this hour, the seafood was wonderful and very good value. The service-very attentive. If you go, you must get the shellfish chateau. Music delightful. Make a reservation for the jazz room-it looked exquisite. Did not have a chance to dine in that room but definitely next time. Bosc pear salad was good but Gotham Bar makes it better. Try the pistachio biscotti with tea.

My husband and I had gone to the opera at the 14th street cinema. It was broadcasted live into the theater, After that, we had a fantastic dinner nearby at the Blue Water Grill. We were treated beautifully. There was no wait time and we were seated upstairs with a view of the restaurant downstairs. The waitress was very efficient and friendly. The food was excellent. It's nice to have a choice of either fish with a sauce or just plainly grilled . There are not many restaurants that give you that choice. That Saturday ,with the wonderful opera and lovely restaurant, was very special. We look forward to spending many Saturdays with them.

I have eaten at this restaurant 5 times in the past 2 weeks. The atmosphere is special, spacious, airy, with that background of modest babel of people having a good time. It is relaxed, neither too formal nor informal and remarkably the background Jazz has always been at the right level, never too loud, always just there when listened for. The decor richly marbled and comfortable. The north wall seating (to the right) is a little too dark. Service has been impeccable, attentive, gracious, knowledgeable. Never condescending. The food is well presented, characterized by very intense flavors. Portion size is appropriately modest - not for hungry persons - and there is an emphasis on Asian styles. Occasionally the food was not hot enough (temperature!) for for my taste. For those wanting a light relaxed uncrowded pretheater meal they currently serve a sunset menu between 4-5 p.m. leaving plenty of time to get to an early opening. Overall a splendid dining experience and the price seems relatively inexpensive for New York, given the atmosphere, quality of service and food.

My boyfriend and I went here for our first date and for our 1st anniversary, we decided to go back. Our service was exceptional; our waiter was attentive, knew a lot about wines and we never had to wait for him to come to our table. The food was great as always! For appetizers, we ordered rock shrimp lettuce wraps which are delicious! For my entree I ordered Sauteed lobster and scallops and once again, it was amazing. The price is fine for a restaurant like this...most restaurants in the city are $35/entree, especially if they're classy. The atmosphere was great too. We had reservations in the basement where there were jazz musicians. The decor is lovely. I recommend Blue Water highly!

We happened to pop in on Martin Luther King Jr day expecting it to be slow, but it was packed and we opted to sit in the bar and eat appetizers. We absolutely loved the cocktail waitress who was sweet and very accomadating. She quickly got us our drinks, obtained an extra chair and made our evening very special. The food was wonderful and we had a great night. I highly recommend this great spot.

The food was forgettable, the service uninspired, the atmosphere pretentious and the bill extremely high. Needless to say, I haven't been back.
