Union Square "Gem" Excellent food & Service
We have eaten here numerous times over the years mostly dining outside for either brunch or dinner and the dining experience has been exceptional. Last night, 1/29 was no different. Our reservation was for 6 requesting a booth for 4 on the main floor. Upon arriving earlier they sat 2 of us right away till the rest of our party arrived something not all restaurants do. Customer service is outstanding from all of the staff. Our polished, friendly server Tom K was attentive for all 2 hours. Our group participated in the $38 restaurant week menu. The menu offered was superb with our party ordering from the delicious perfectly prepared steak au poivre to the moist not overly cooked salmon coupled with bottles of Muscadet.

Don't Go!
This place was in a word...Subpar. The service wasn't bad but the food was unappetizing. Upon going into the restaurant it was not so bad. The maitre d was wonderful the waiter was ecstatic. If only the food exemplified the atmosphere. we ordered oysters and calamari. The royal miyagi was the best and we had a complementary gazpacho that was really good. But the calamari was inedible. I've had better frozen calamari!! Then we had our entrees. I ordered soft shell crab tacos which came as wraps? The guy who brought them had an attitude when I asked what was that! A wrap is different from a taco. I told them i didnt want it. My sister had swordfish with sweet potato hash with lobster. The sweet potato hash tasted like it was sitting at the side of the grill(like a diner) and they just reheated it. The sauce everything was over was like a red curry sauce with coconut cream (incredibly unappetizing). The swordfish was good but had no flavor but it was a great piece of fish. The gnocchi was not consistent. The sauce was way too thick for what was being served. It was poorly and even if they paid me I wouldn't ever ever go back there.

Service is important
Waited almost an hour for steamed lobster that should have taken ten minutes tops and mash potatoes don't think it takes that long..Won't be going back there city crab is better and cheaper with more varieties..

Go!
Always surprisingly good despite the crowds and noise level. Excellent products and gracious service. Restaurant Week menu was a real value and terrific.

Splendid!!
Great atmosphere with live entertainment. Foof was absolutely delicious. Fresh, seasoned nicely with a great presentation. Recommend chilean seabass that will melt in your mouth or salmon which will make you salivate for more . Dessert was divine and coffee great. A really nice spot for dates, celebrations or just to get out and mingle.

Love this place
I love this place---always have and will. If you're into shell fish, it's fantastic share one of their extravagant, combo shell fish tiers with a fellow, shell fish lover A little champagne with some oysters is my favorite lunch. Even the dinners during jazz are delicious and fairly priced

Brunch. Lunch, Dinner Favorite
Definitely a little confused by some of the negative reviews of this restaurant. We eat here all the time and have never had a bad meal. The sushi appetizers are excellent. Great fish. Brunch is unusual and very good. Service has always been attentive. Definitely a place to try.
