Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill

We had eaten at the Sullivan St. location on other trips to the city but happened on the Columbus Circle Blue Ribbon almost by accident last Thanksgiving. We loved it so much we almost missed our plane. All we could talk about when we got home was the smoked hamachi. Oh my God- it's heavenly. I also really loved the Sakana San Shu maki roll. We planned another trip after the new year just so we could return to Blue Ribbon Sushi. Really. Our service was fantastic and it was our pleasure to meet the manager, Quinn. Everything we tried was top-notch. We look forward to our next visit to the city-you can bet we'll be at Blue Ribbon.

I went here not knowing what to expect. I usually go to Blue Ribbon for fried chicken and bread pudding. This was seriously the most incredible meal I've ever had. The fish was so fresh and all the dishes were so innovative. I ate everything that was presented to me. The best Japanese food I've ever had. I can't wait to go back!

well i fill myself with a whole lot of oily foods and you have to try the bone marrow. its the most interesting dish i've ever tried. sauces were great, food is great...EVERYTHING IS GREAT!

This is my first review of a restaurant on this site, and unfortunately, it is not a good one. I just got back from Blue Ribbon with a friend and we were very unimpressed. We were sat in a small booth in a makeshift walkway that seemed very claustrophobic. The Chardonnay was fine, as was my Nuta Ae appetizer, which was whitefish sashimi, scallions and mustard miso. My friend's Rockshrimp Tempura Special was greasy. Our main courses took almost 45 minutes after our appetizers to come, and in the meantime, several different servers had come around and either given my friend a side plate for his main course or come and taken it away. Weird. My main course of 12 pieces of sashimi was average at best. Not the best pieces of fish, nor the worst. My friend had the Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, which was so boring and overfried. I have had MUCH better fried chicken at the local Chinese takeout restaurant. The portion sizes were nothing to brag about, the music in our area was a little too loud, and the service was scarce, even though it was not crowded at all tonight. Will not go back. There are much better restaurants in the area to go to.

Finally, terrific sushi in the midtown west/columbus circle area. The sushi was outstanding; the fish was incredibly fresh and essentially melted in your mouth. The rock shrimp tempura and salt and pepper shrimp were terrific too. The staff is very attentive and the atmosphere and vibe are wonderful. And open until 2am? I am sold. Can't wait to go again.

Took business clients here and LOVED it. by far the best location out of all the blue ribbons and the food was great. cool hotel too.
