one of my finest dining experiences
Dined here for dinner on a recent Saturday night. This was one of the finest dining experiences we've had. The ambiance was very welcoming, the food was outstanding, and the service was perfect. I will certainly be back soon and I look forward to recommending Blue Hill.

Yummy food
food was fresh and yummy. wish they had been more specific about certain ingredients, as I had an allergy to one food in salad, but server never mentioned specific vegetables. he didn't know (he had the previous day off and didn't know current menu, though this menu had been online for a week by the time we ate there, so total bs). but, overall, good food. great wine selection-really great wine list. cheese plate good too, though it didn't match what was on menu. so, good food, but not totally worth the hype.

Expectations were too great
We've been wanting to go to Blue Hill for several months and must have built it up quite a bit in our minds because the actual meal did not live up to the expectations. The bread basket was scrumptuous--hot flaky bread was totally addicting. For appetizers, we tried butternut squash soup and butternut squash ravioli. Both dishes were great though ravioli left us wishing for a bigger portion. For main courses, we had cod (it tasted a bit fishy which was surprising given how mild it usually is) and lamb (very well done, quite nice). We even had dessert--a delicious chocolate bread pudding. The drinks menu was quite limited - only 2 cocktails and 4 beers, besides the wine list. We ordered their blood orange concoction and were absolutely taken with the smooth delicious taste. Overall, it was a good experience though nothing spectacular for the kind of restaurant it was (a high-tier white linen tablecloth place). We liked the idea of fresh seasonal produce from a local farm but were not blown away by the actual food. The atmosphere was warm and cozy - there were a few couples on date and several corporate tables. The location is great and if you are in the neighborhood, go in to try it. It may not be worth your while to travel from afar.

Great Food, Incredible Service
I started out with an appetizer of corn soup, which was okay, but nothing special. The manager saw that I had only finished half of my bowl. He came over and profusely apologized, asking if there was any other appetizer I would like instead. I said no, and he came backa minute later to tell me that since I did not like the soup, it was taken off of our bill. You just don't get service like that anymore in NYC! The atmosphere here is charming; very elegant, very modern. The food, aside from my soup, was outstanding, and for the quality of the food, the price really isn't too bad. I would highly highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Fantastic on so many levels....
This is my first review of any restaurant even though I have been eating out in NY for 7 years. I must say the service at Blue Hill was THE BEST SERVICE I have ever experienced at a restaurant in New York and I’ve been to many of the finest (Per Se, Jean George, etc..). As a smoker, I do enjoy stealing away between courses for a cigarette. I know this is not politically correct and is often inappropriate when having dinner at such a lovely restaurant, however, not once did I feel ostracized or forced to move along with my dinner experience. With that said, the ambiance was incredibly comfortable and the food was delicious. The crab salad was all crab with a refreshing taste that left me satisfied and looking forward to my main course selection. My entrée was the duck; the best duck I’ve ever had…melt in your mouth, no need for a knife because it was so tender. I highly recommend Blue Hill as a full dining EXPERIENCE.

Didn't live up to my expectations
Not one dish was anything more than good. The foie gras was tasty, but not exceptional- Tocqueville's is superior. The cod over warm uni was salty, and the uni was too fishy. The chocolate bread pudding was a good dessert, but certainly not noteworthy. I've heard the Westchester restaurant is far superior, but I don't know if I'd be willing to take the chance.

Best Foie Gras
The foie gras was the best i have ever had. The only negative would have to be the after dinner drinks. Too small of selection.
