    Fabulous sushi, fabulous atmosphere

    We learned about Blue Ginger from Menupages.com. We are so happy we tried it. The sushi was fresh, melt in your mouth delicioius with a price that cant be beat for the quality. The banana tempura with vanilla ice cream was an incredible ending to our meal. The service experience was incredible, she poured our drinks for us, wiped our table after every course, even found out what song was playing for my boyfriend. They had the front windows wide open so we could all have the breeze from outside.

    Has gone way downhill in the past year

    I used to love this place, last two times I was there i was: served frozen octopus and the waitress had no idea why that was a problem. The last time i went my sweet potato in my sp tempura roll was still rock hard and uncooked. Service is also not as friendly as it used to be

    Great sushi!

    I just went to this restaurant after reading the reviews here online to bring my two young nieces (Ages 19 and 17) for dinner. We were also joined by one of their friends who had never had sushi before. Well, she was adventurous enough to try the spicy salmon roll and fell in love with sushi! No, it's not exactly the most exotic of rolls, but for your first sushi ever, that's a pretty good review. I ordered the 4 seasons roll, which was filled with amazing fresh fish - yellowtail, white tuna, salmon and tobiko wrapped in pink seaweed and drizzled with a light wasabi dressing. DELICIOUS!! The sashimi was also top notch quality fish. It was also very reasonably priced - 4 of us ate for $70. I will definitely come back here - I hope they deliver to my office!

    undoubtably the best delivery in chelsea

    Excellent sushi - consistent, fresh, melt in your mouth. i haven't had a bad order and have been ordering from them weekly for months now (on a Wednesday delivery they had some of the freshest fish i've ever tasted, including in Japan, Sunday and Monday i am not afraid to order but not the same caliber-- seems to be the case anywhere you go). Clearly better than Hanna and competes with Mimoya in taste (Mimoya doesn't deliver). Additionally Blue Ginger has stellar customer service - they know you by your phone number, remember your card number and always come to your door fast and with a smile. I've been eating sushi in NYC since age 2, it's some of the freshest out there, great value, and the only place in the neighborhood that doesn't give me a headache to communicate an order to--they are the best. if only it was always that easy... (never eaten in the restaurant so disregard the atmosphere rating)

    Tacky name, great restaurant!

    I wanted sushi real bad, and found a menu for Blue Ginger around the apartment. I was wary so I looked at the reviews on here, and was worried that there were no bad reviews. So I decided to do a walk by, where then I would either call and order for pickup (or delivery). Once in front of the restaurant, I decided I would go in and order to go, but the waitress that met me at the door was very friendly, so I sat down. A single girl eating alone in a rather trendy restaurant on a Friday night, is reason enough for stares, but they were really non-awkward about it. The waitresses all took turns checking on me- do I need more drinks, how's the sushi, great choice... I ordered the Crazy Roll and the Four Seasons roll. The Crazy roll has cream cheese and is deep fried goodness. The four seasons could have been rolled tighter- I feel like they were trying to make them huge, so rolling tightly would not make sense. But it was good nonetheless. Both rolls were gigantic, yet better priced than most other places. Also, the quality of the fish was great- fresh, perfect temperature. The miso soup was AMAZING. The flavor was great- except the tofu was cubed really really small. The miso was a little hard- it could have been cooked a little longer. But still, better soup than the other sushi places I have tried in NYC. Did I mention, good service, good food, nice atmosphere- the music and the lights were synced; not too loud, good music choice- and definitely worth a try!

    good food, weird delivery.

    i've only ever gotten delivery from blue ginger, and i can say that the food is very good. however, the delivery and service are so hit-or-miss, it's ridiculous. late last year, the delivery service was the best i'd ever received in the city -- friendly delivery man (!), speedy turnaround, great all around. however, in recent months, they've been getting my orders wrong every time i speak to them on the phone, and then they argue with me about how i ordered what they delivered. they've also recently raised the minimum order charge, but blame it on the face that i am "too far away for an order that small" -- i work 1 block and 2 avenues away! i really love the food there, but it's become such a hassle to deal with their poor customer service, that i likely won't be going back.
