My friends and i dined last Saturday and absolutly loved it!!! We were greeted kindly by the Maitre D and seated promptly. The food was amazing (popovers especially) and the waiter was very attentive. I highly recommend the Tuna Tartar and the Filet which were both delicious.

We had really looked forward to this meal and were very excited when we got a reservation. However, we had to wait over an hour to get seated. The service was great but unfortunately the steak wasn't as great as we had hoped for and way too salty. I've been to many steak houses but this was not worth the money or the wait..

After having heard lots about this place and it being on the Zagat guide we were very keen to go and thrilled when we got a reservation when booking only a week and a half in advance. We gave them a call to let them know that we were going to be 10 min late and they said that they would only hold the table for 10 min. After having rushed there we then had to wait an hour before we were seated as they were running late afterall...Once seated the waitress was lovely, the food was nice but my boyfriend who is a steak lover thought it was way too salty and I agree, so quite disappointed. Considering we only had one starter, 2 glasses of wine and no dessert it was not worth the $150...

I was very excited to try this restaurant with my friend who got reservations for a Saturday nite weeks ago. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was disappointed. We arrived on time for our reservation, but still had to wait 20 minutes for our table which would have been fine except for the fact that the pompous bartender never gave us the time of day to even order a drink. Not to mention that we were surrounded by Aqua Net USA in all directions. When we finally sat down, I did like the flow and space of the restaurant, but that was about it. Popovers were brought to the table and they were fabulous. They also brought out some type of spread with toasted bread which no one could tell us what it was and tasting it did no good in figuring out its ingredients either. The wait staff was clueless, our waitress could not even comment on some of the items on the menu because they were specials and she "had not served them yet". She was a nice person but unknowledgeable about the menu to a major fault. I felt like I could have done a better job describing the items. When the food arrived, it was good, especially the steaks. The filet was very tender, but I have had better. The sided were very plain and not worth even ordering. I will say I ordered the margarita and that was very tasty. We also ordered a warm chocolate cake for dessert which was also pretty good but not great.

When I received my 40-dollar steak, that I had ordered medium, they had brought it rare. They "took care of it" by warming it up on the outside, but neglecting to realize that the inside was still very pink and cool. When they brought it back for a third time it was medium on the inside, but charred and chewy over all. When I asked for a new steak they informed me that I would have to pay for two steaks. (By now all of the sides we had ordered had gone cold). Thus I simply sent back the original steak, and ordered a new steak, which arrived some 15 minutes later. It was good, but not worth the wait or the treatment by our waiter.

I've eaten at all of the top steakhouses in New York City and must say that BLT Steak is among the best in Manhattan. The restaurant has a very hip and modern decor that is quite different from the typical NYC steakhouse. As far as the food is concerned everything is excellent. The shrimp cocktail were large and delicious. The creamed spinach, onion rings and hash browns were all top notch. As far as the steak is concerned the Poterhouse, which I shared, was more than enough for two. The steak was cooked perfectly (I would recommend ordering it medium) and was very juicy and tender. My only criticism is that the service seemed a bit fast at first and then a bit too slow towards the end of the meal. Overall eating at BLT Steak was a great experience, one which I would love to repeat.

Four of us went for a celebratory dinner to BLT Steak. We got very lucky with our table as they gave us the round back-corner table that looks out over the entire room. We passed Robert Downey Jr. on the way to our seating. From beginning to end the staff was very attentive. The drinks were terrific, and the complimentary popovers were amazing. I 've been on the South Beach diet, but those popovers were not to be missed. Our drinks were excellent, and we settled in for what we hoped would be a memorable meal. The appetizers were just better than OK. The gnocchi were drowned in a cheesy compot and quite frankly were only identifiable as gnocchi since that what was we had ordered. The creamed spinach was excellent, and the shoestring french fries were totally average. The onion rings are presented as a tower, and they were very tasty. A minor gripe about the apps is that the portions are rather small at $8 each. With gnocchi it is understandable, but french fries, onion rings, and spinach are low-cost items which should have been more substantial portions. Our main dishes were terrific....I shared the porterhouse with the other guy and we were just able to finish it. My wife got the hangar steak (loved it) and the other lady got the tilapia and ate every bite. The desserts were OK, but not at all memorable. Taking everything into account it was a very good dinner, but when a (just) very good dinner for 4 (with 7 drinks) costs almost $450, one stops and says "Are you going to do this again?" Probably not.
