Not Returning
I have been to almost every steakhouse in NYC, and this was one of my least favorite. Started with the shrimp cocktail which was fine and the beet salad. Next, the steak was ok, not great and I ordered the tuna. This was 5 tiny squares of tuna with a topping. When I order tuna at a steakhouse, it should be a huge seared amazing piece. Sides were the mushrooms and the brussle sprouts which were also fair. For a $300 dinner, I would choose elsewhere

disappointing
this is my least favorite of the blt restaurants. last night i had a reservation for 4 people at 8 pm, but we were not seated until 9:30. with no apology from anyone. this is too late for a big meal on a weekday night, and a restaurant of this caliber should honor their reservations. i have had similar problems in the past with this restaurant, and i will not return. i have never had this issue at the other steak houses in nyc, where the food and atmosphere is comparable or even superior. in addition, the food was mediocre, and the staff appeared tired. blt is surviving on reputation.

A Great Evening
we celebrated a wonderful occasion at BLT Steak and the maitre d' Alex and the waitstaff could not have been more gracious and accomodating. When we arrived our tables that we reserved were ready for us but we werent rushed as we first had a drink at the bar Once we were seated the service was very good as was the food. Overall they made me feel as if it wasnt just another meal but a special occasion.

Very good
Went for the first time this weekend, finally. waiters were friendly and helpful, nice atmosphere. Food was excellent. The popovers they give you to start are absolutely, obscenely good. I could have eaten 10 of them, thankfully, they only brought 3-4 of them. The porterhouse for two was very good, but not great, the sauces were very good too. the thick cut bacon appetizer was delicious. the sides were very very good... the french fries and onion rings, were both very very tasty, and the poached green beans were absolutely delicious.

Used to Love It...But its all over now
BLT STEAK used to be great. Service, Staff, food, Wine and Value. BLT STEAK has lost it all going from amazing to less than mediocre === food, service, quality and staff. With all the restaurants in Manhattan do yourself a favor and do BETTER. They no longer care here about anything but collecting your credit card / money and closing the bill.

Hardly outstanding . . .
Doesn't meet the hype. Went here a few weeks ago, and there was something just lacking that made me take it off my list of places to go back to. I have yet to identify what that is, but it was a lackluster experience, with better cuisine found in many restaurants elsewhere. Service was good , as expected - especially when they overcooked my piece of meat and got me a new one within a minute with apologies from the wait staff and half the management team who rushed our table. Our meal was good, but I was not overly impressed. My filet ( second time around) was cooked perfectly and the meat itself was great. The sides were not overly memorable, nor was the salad I had as my appetizer. Although I went in with an open mind, I will chalk this up on my list of restaurants that get their rating for a good part because they are "trendy." I'll add craftsteak to that list as well. I'll be sticking to the classics/standard steakhouses that the city is known for from now on. Additionally, since it seems like price has come up in some of the reviews - this restaurant is fairly priced for the city - our bill was $400+ (tip not included in that number) for 3 people, but that included cocktails and a bottle of champagne. Neither the food nor the restaurant warrant that kind of a price tag. I have no qualms about paying that much, but when the overall experience is good, not outstanding, I'll have to say take a pass and go elsewhere.

Seriously Incredible
Went with another couple- all 4 of us were amazed at how great everything was! Good wine, pop overs, steak, sides and fabulous attentive service. (american kobe beef was to die for) Be prepared to spend but it is well worth it!
