The best
I have been here at least twenty times and every time the steak has been delicious. I always get the the Filet Med Rare with the gorgonzola, but rarely use it because the meat itself is so amazing. The dry aged beef is the best in the city and the sides are to die for. Especially the creamed spinach and the potato leek hash browns. And the popovers are amazing...I have the recipe but haven't yet tried to make them because I am sure that they will not be as good. I have also been to BLT Steak which was just as delicious, but not as fun an atmosphere. Every time the meal has been consistantly perfect. I have never had a problem with the service and in fact have found it to be very good. I mean it is a steak house, you aren't going to have the type of service you get say at the dining rooms at the Modern or at Country, but it shouldn't be expected to be that formal. Anyway, in my opinion it is by far the best steak in nyc....and I've tried them all.

PRIME!
Just went back for my 2nd time this past Friday. Everything was perfect! The popover bread is to die for! The porterhouse was very good. Service was great! I will definitely be going back for my 3rd time.

What?
I've read the other reviews here and I'm extremely surprised. I had wonderful service, the waiters catered to our almost every whim. I had the strip steak and I agree it was not that good, but the porterhouse for two was incredible. It was juicy and tender and absolutely delicious. I'm definitely going back for more.

Great Choice
I am not sure why everyone is giving the place such bad reviews. It made me hesitant to go after reading such horrible reviews not to mention it was my birthday dinner. If it was not for a friend with great taste that had eaten there a few nights before recommending it I would not have gone. Being an avid steak eater at least 2 times a week I was highly impressed with the quality and cut of the piece I got (filet). It was pan seared how it should be flavored with sea salt and a hint of pepper cooked to perfection. I was warned a head of time to ask for it to be cooked less then what I wanted. I ordered it medium rare and it came out more medium for me anyway. That would be the only knock I could have on the place. We also got the creamed spinach which was great and garlic mashed potatoes that were whipped giving them a nice creamy feel. We even showed up early for the reservation and did not have to wait long. After being seated the solaimaneyah noticed we were looking at wine and offered to help us out. He not only suggested a very nice paring to what we wanted to eat but also let us do a tasting of 4 other wines before we made up our decision. The overall experience was great. I myself would definitely go back again.

Good but not the best
I'll add myself to the group of those who doubted that their food was cooked to order -- our entrees arrived impossibly fast (seriously, impossibly) and were even overcooked. I had the filet; it was solid, but not amazing. The side sauce was good, but a good steak doesn't really need it. The creamed spinach was delicious, but I wish there had been more of it. We did love the popovers (no buts here). I didn't mind the atmosphere, except the place felt a bit too crowded. All in all, it was pretty good; I'd eat here again, but it wouldn't be my top choice.

Others are better
Saturday night in May, place was out of filet (top steak on the menu). How this happens I will never know. Waiter forgot about our bread, which is supposed to be their signature. Said he would make it up to us and did nothing. Servers did not come back for drink refills, rather they focused all their attention on large parties. Not good service at all if its just dinner for two. Place is way too expensive and full of itself. Go elsewhere for better food and much better service for your money. Have been to BLT multiple times before, but will never go back after this experience.

Meh . . .
Waited a while for the server. Medium filet was overcooked and, like the review below, not a drop of juice on the plate. Hash browns (looks like a mini quiche) tasted like a vat of salt fell into the mix. The double cut bacon was the one bright spot (unfortunate for a steakhouse). I can think of many other places to spend a truckload of money.
