    Worth every penny!

I am shocked at some of the negative reviews! I dined at BLT Prime for the 4th time last night, and each time, I am more amazed at how perfect this restaurant is! Before I get to the food, the service has always been excellent. Our waitress last night could not have been more attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere maintains the steakhouse feel, but with a hip twist. It is always packed, even on a Tuesday night! (The true sign of an exceptional restaurant). The food...simply divine! I could honestly leave satisfied after one of those popovers, they really are incredible. I also believe that BLT's tuna tartare is the best in the city. As for the steaks, I've had the wagyu, which is unbelievable. Last night I opted for the simpler Porterhouse which was excellent. The red wine sauce is a perfect complement. As for sides, I've been to every steakhouse, and I truly consider BLT's creamed spinach to be among the best. The potato skins w/ truffle oil were delicious! If you have room for dessert, the peanutbutter chocolate one is quite good. It's definitely not a cheap meal, but worth the price! Good to impress a date or to just grab a perfect cut of meat with friends. I can't wait to go back!

    Why the poor service?

Nice atmosphere, good food although a bit pricy, poor service. You can definitely do better elsewhere.

    Not worth the price

This place is ok, but there are much better steakhouses in New York that are better values. The food is fine but nothing amazing. I found the environment to be pretentious and the service is slow. Their little outdoor area is nice for a drink/apps.

    Terrible Experience

Service is not good. Steaks are tough. Sides are mediocre at best. Only thing this place has over other steakhouses are the popovers and cookies they serve at the end. Other than that place is garbage

    Suitable for vegetarians

My wife and I went here at the last minute after being given the runaround on a reservation at Japonais nearby. Despite being vegetarians, I selected BLT Prime because I've had good surprisingly good experiences dining out with colleagues at steak houses in the past, due to the number of good vegetable side items. In this regard, BLT Prime did not disappoint. There were plenty of things for us to eat, which the excellent server helpfully pointed out. The hearty side items, outstanding popovers, well-appointed cheese plate, excellent cocktails and wine, great dessert salvaged our night out. While I unfortunately cannot comment on the quality of their steaks, I can say that everything we tried was well-prepared and extremely tasty. My only complaint was that due to not having a reservation we were seated in the bar area, which was quite drafty, but otherwise it was an excellent experience.

    What's the point?

I go to a steakhouse for 2 reasons: the steak, and the creamed spinach. Here, they were both sub, sub-par. Everything else: appetizers, the popovers (DAMN!), the sides and especially the desserts were solid 9's. The porterhouse and creamed spinach get a 3... and that's only because everything else was so good. The service was lacking to boot.

    so good

Ate here last night and the food was so good..Started off with Caesar which is big enough for two people to share...The sirloin was delicious...Juicy and flavorful...Leek hash browns and gnocci were sides...Both great, although gnocci side is very small...For dessert, had peanut butter mousse, chocolate tart and red velvet cake...Peanut butter mousse was sooo good.....The popovers are to die for...Never have I tasted bread like that..They also give complimentary cookies at the end which are out of this world....
