    Corked Wine

Just wanted to comment on the review about the Sommelier tasting the bottle of wine before it was poured. Lady the reason that is done is to ensure that the wine is not corked. It's proper service to do that so u won't have the unpleasant experience of tasting a bad wine, it will ruin your taste buds for a few minutes, and it's just plain bad service not to do that.

    wow! now THAT'S good steak

My friends and I were in town on business and were recommended to BLT Prime. I read some comments here before we dined, and was a little wary, but we decided to have our dinner there, regardless. It was perfect...amazing! For those foolish enough to not make a reservation, that's your tough luck, you deserve to wait for the spectacular steak and other menu options. If you do your research on how steak should be prepared properly, then you will not be dissapointed. Side dishes are served family style, and are decadent, not massive. It's not Denny's. Good food should be based on quality, not quantity. My guests loved every aspect of our experience. Worth every dime, and we will be back any time we're here, with reservations, of course.

    Disappointed...

My boyfriend and I were craving a steakhouse dinner, so we decided to try BLT Prime. After walking in the restaurant and feeling like I was in NYC circa 1997, we put our name in without a reservation and the hostess told us it would be a 45 minute wait. After 40 minutes, I asked nicely how much longer they thought our wait would be and they said our table was just paying their bill. 25 minutes later, I asked again and they said they were just getting up. After 15 more minutes of waiting (over an hour at this point), they sat us at a weird booth right by the door in the bar area. We asked nicely if we could be moved to the dining area and the hostess said we were in the dining area. For a restaurant that charges what they do for a steak dinner, they should be a little bit more accommodating when someone asks to sit somewhere else. So they said they could seat us in the "dining room" after another table that was paying their bill got up - which was another 20 minutes. While we were waiting we saw them try to seat 2 other couples at this bar area table, both refused as well! We finally ordered and got our food, my filet was ordered medium rare and came medium well. Then during dinner, the table next to us complained about something and the waiter offered them a complimentary desert, then they got their check and the desert was on their bill. Like I said, for an upscale restaurant like BLT, you would think they would have enough experience to not let something like that happen. Don't think we'll be going back anytime soon...

    Overpriced & Overated

We went out for my birthday dinner a group of eight people. I made the reservation to BLT Prime after some reviews I read online. First off, having aged cow carcasses on display for guests as soon as you walk in the door is very unappetizing, as is the divided cow diagram on the rear of the menu. The wine list (actually a book) was impressive, but the selections were VERY pricey. There were few bottles under $100. I asked the "wine master" to recommend a bottle under $100, and of course he chose something over $100. OKAY. I asked him to recommend something slightly cheaper, and he told me he doesn't recommend that at all. So fine, I agreed to his decision since I now felt somewhat obliged to order something, and didn't want to cause a scene. The waiter brought over the bottle to me for approval, and then walked off with it to a small side table. I was wondering what he was doing, so I glanced over to see him open the bottle and pour himself a sample which he quickly chugged down! He then brings the already opened (and tasted) bottle to me, and poured me a sample. What was the point since he had already helped himself? I disliked the recommended wine immensely, but forced it down regardless. I blind picked a second bottle for half the price and enjoyed it twice as much! Of course, the second time around the same waiter repeated his “tasting” procedure again. Anyway, the appetizer portions were very small. The Tuna Tartare was great, but I would've needed at least one more order to be satisfied, and my fiancee's crab cake was slightly fishy. For entrees, we each decided on Porterhouse steaks. None of them were cooked the way we ordered. My "medium" steak was burned to a crisp on the outside and was rare inside. It was extremely chewy and not enjoyable in the least. The side dishes were just as small as the entrees, if not smaller, and not that great either. The desserts were excellent though. The satisfaction we received here was very small, and of course the bill was very large.

    Its really great every time.

Great food and service. Steaks are tender, well seasoned and flavorful. Sides really are great. Leek hash browns, onion rings, etc. all really first rate. I've been four times, and the service has always been really nice too. The atmosphere is great, the drinks are well mixed, the wine list is nice and the desserts are delicious. And, you get free popovers (which are hot and delicious) and a very tasty pate with crusty grilled bread. Also, I think the tuna tartar is among the best I have had. The place is a winner. I've been a couple of times in Puerto Rico too, and it is just about as good.

    Good stuff, tough neighborhood

I've eaten here on several occasions and every time it gets a little better. This area is hurting for places like this. Nice decor, excellent sirloins. Yes it's a bit pricey but show me a steakhouse that isn't! I personally like to sit at the bar where you always get great service. Heck the waiter is in front of you the entire time!

    where's the beef ?

Ate here recently and found the food to be overpriced . We had the $26 an oz. Kobe as an appetizer and it was pretty good. I had the dry aged American Wagyu for $82 (about 8 oz.) as an entree and was not that impressed. The atmosphere was nice and service was very good, but I would not rate the meat here as being in the same league as other well-known steakhouses
