I've been to BLT Fish twice, and I have loved it both times. I was shocked to see less than happy reviews because both of my experiences have been spectacular. The service was incredibly friendly and accomodating, and the food was wonderful. As an avid shrimp fan, the peel-and-eat shrimp exceeded any I have tried before, with an expertly spiced, yet not overly spicy sauce served on the side. I will gladly return for another helping.

We ate at the downstairs portion of BLT Fish and we were disappointed. Our favorite food is lobster rolls so we both ordered that...and they were bad. Not only were they incredibly slim (perhaps 1/2 or a third of a usual lobster roll's meat) but they were tasteless too. The fried clam appetizers were forgettable...not meaty and a batter without anything special to it at all. BLT Fish is certainly NOT. (BLT = Bland, Lacking Taste??) And btw, the service was lousy too. Too bad...we really wanted to like this place.

Went to BLT Fish before official opening, ate at the bar & won't give it another chance. Bar service was fine, but aside from the bread, food was inadequate & overpriced. Fried clams consisted of a few strips of fried something which could have been dough, i.e., had no taste. Definitely not New England style clams with bellies. Lobster roll contained about 1/2 inch of lobster meat & I think was priced at $22. Left feeling hungry but unwilling to leave more money at that place.

Well, maybe some people go to a restaurant just to be seen, but I expect more. Having enjoyed the zoo that is BLT Steak, I couldn't wait for this outpost to open, but had an unpleasant experience when I went. The service was poor -- inattentive, uneducated, and unhelpful when problems were pointed out. It took 20 minutes to get menus, and when our appetizers were brought out, my crab was delivered a full 10 minutes before my dinner partner's soup. Dinner was another 45 minute wait, and the Dover Sole special was overcooked and tasteless (except for the spicy crab stuffing which overpowered the delicate sole). All of the entrees are served with a loathsome fennel slaw for which no substitutes are offered even upon request -- there's not a green vegetable in sight. And the waitress' paltry effort to make up for both her shortfalls as well as the kitchen's sloth was to offer a dessert to us on the house -- but only if we bought a second one! Stupidly, we bit on the "offer," and then the busperson dropped a fork, loaded with chocolate cake and icing, down the back of my cashmere sweater. She first pretended that it hadn't been soiled, then took it upon herself to rub the icing into the fabric with a dry napkin when I reached around and felt the incontrovertible evidence on my clothing. What's more, the management was unresponsive to these concerns.

This place was great. The fried clams were delicious. The fish was great with a variety of sauces to choose from. The service was fantastic and at the end of the meal they gave us these cute little plastic fortune telling fish. Oh yeah....all the desserts are home made and the chocolate cake was outstanding!

I'm surprised to read the negative reviews here. We went Saturday night and had a wonderful time. We had oysters, crab claws, shimp, crab cakes, the cod and the lobster roll. All were delicious. The service was attentive but not overly so. The environment was nice and relaxed. We will definitely eat there again.

I ate here the other night and was very disappointed. The service was poor, getting our orders all mixed up. Further, the food was not very hot, and it took a while to be served. Considering that there were about 10 chefs back in the kitchen, I found it quite ironic that they couldn't get their acts together back there and at least have food served in a timely manner. Other than the bread and butter, which happened to be pretty good, there is zero reason in my mind to ever return here again.
