Worst Service I have EVER received

I made a reservation for BLT Fish Shack for 7:45. We did not get seated until 8:45- 1 full hour or waiting. After waiting for so long, we were very eager to order our food. Our waitress did not come over for about 10 minutes. We then waited for another 25 minutes to receive our food. The clam showder was watery and had a gross smoky taste, shrimp cocktail was decent at best, the mussels were the only good thing I ate. All in all, I will NEVER return to BLT Fish shack as the wait was not worth it at all.

Their sides are amazing - I had them all!! Next time I'm trying their specials - to be continued

The raw bar has an amazing selection. Their seafood is wild! It took me a while to find a restaurant that has "organic seafood"! Their garlic bread is topped w/ melted cheddar (and I'm a cheese lover). My boyfriend had their Lettuce wedge & Blue Cheese, and I had their Caesar Salad, we also shared a Field Green Salad - they were all good! I love their clam chowder- it has bacon in it! We didn't have a complete meal, insteade we shared a lot: Corn-on-the-Cob (w/ garlic butter & salt - was amazing), Roasted Potatoes, their Old Bay seasoned Fries (I like them w/ ketchup & mayo mixed together), the rice pilaf was interesting - it was a mix of different types of rice, and tasted gread w/ that whole green cardamom! The sweet onion strings seasoned w/ salt & Old Bay were a bit spicy, but great, the grilled asparagus were seasoned w/ salt, olive oil, pepper & parsley (which I love -good for the eyes). String Beans (sauteed w/ red onions, garlic, salt, pepper & salt), their coleslaw was awsome too - it was very creamy! We just wanted to try a lot of different things, and it was great! Unfortunately, we didn't have a complete dinner.... The next time I go back, I'll deff try their specials :)

    Bleh

I want to love this place, so I've been like four times. I want it to be what it wants to be--a cute, Cape Cod-y fish shack! But it's just not good. The fish isn't good, the shrimp is worse, the ice tea is meh. I have actually sent things back for a replacement order, something I have NEVER done at any restaurant. But seriously, what was that frozen Chinese farm shrimp? Why would you even purchase food for your kitchen of such terrible quality? This might as well be Burger King. Oh--the corn on the cob? For how many weeks had that thing been sitting in a pot of tepid water? The service varies from great to terrible, and the frying of foods is simply not well done. I've eaten upstairs and loved it, but downstairs, with the execrable lobster roll, is a total rip-off. And there's nothing I want more than a decent fish shack in this town.

    The Worst!

This place hands down has the worst fried fish and shrimp I have ever tasted. You get more grease and breading than you do fish and shrimp. Talk about heart attack on a plate. They might as well have just given me a box of grease (I ordered takeout). And the french fries, oh my god! They were small, flimsy and way too greasy. I felt like suing just to get my thirtysix dollars back (that's for two people). And to top it off they had the nerve to put two fried, stuffed peppers in the box (at first I thought it was two fried mice) to make it look like more food than it actually was. Did I mention that the fish was very small. Definitely not worth the price of eighteen dollars for the Fish, Shrimp & Chips Combo. You get two small fish, three shrimp, two peppers and fries. People, don't do it!

    New England Gem (in NYC)

I had never been to the Fish Shack, but had eaten at other BLTs. I always had good experiences, but none compared to our night out at the Shack. The food and amazing raw bar aside, the atmosphere was incredible. Best playlist in Manhattan, and such a great crowd and staff made the place come together. The management is personable and friendly and the staff knowledgable and attentive. I told all my friends and we came back a week later and had an even more enjoyable evening than the first. I love the cocktails and draft beer selection. The raw bar is seriously one of the best I have ever seen. 4 kinds of crab and 8 kinds of oysters left my mouth watering for more. Value wise, its what I have come to expect from New York City. As long as the food is good and the room alive, then it will always be worth it to me. I recommend this to anyone and everyone craving a good time and a hankering for some oysters and craft beer.

    I agree with CeCe!

After submitting my name at 6:25 p.m. for the BLT Fish Shack last night, I was told we would be seated when my party was ready, which was at 6:40 p.m. Even though there were tables empty, the young hostess told us that several other parties were ahead of us. Didn't see anyone being seated at the 3 empty tables near her and only one party was seated. By 7 p.m., the hostess continued to ignore us and we walked out...poor service or should I say no service before we even sat down. You know what they say about first impressions. If you have an inexperienced hostess who doesn't know how to do her job, you are going to lose customers before they even try your food. Are all your host/hostesses the same low caliber as the one we experienced?

    WORST SERVICE EVER.

Laurent Tourondel should be embarassed to have his name associated with this place. We had reservations at 9:30 p.m. (rather late), and when we arrived we were told that they were running about 10 minutes late, and were asked to have a drink at the bar. It took us 15 minutes to get a bartender's attention, and 45 minutes later, we were still standing there with no table, and no word on when we might be seated. When we finally flagged down one of the hostesses we checked in with, she had no idea who we were. More hostess shenanigans ensued. Bottom line: for a place that markets itself as a quality brand, it never learned about customer service. First, if they couldn't seat us, they should not have taken our reservation (just say "we're all full" or "you are welcome to wait for a table"). Second, if you are going to take reservations you can't honor and make your customers wait an hour for a table, at least update them on their status, or offer a cocktail or an appetizer, or whatever. This place happily overcharges on food using the "Laurent Tourondel" name and hocks cookbooks at the door with his image on the cover. The least he could do for such shameless marketing is ensure his customers (and their time) are treated with the dignity they deserve. Shame on you!
