eez not so good
Had a date night here about a month ago - expected more. Much of what we ate was way too salty, even for my fella, who never complains about overseasoning. Almost a pre-packaged quality to food - seemed like "material," not necessarily edible goods. I'm vegan, so I'm used to strange textures of mock meats, etc. - but this was truly unique. Saturday night, packed house - tight squeeze, but this is NYC so, hey . . . Waiter was busy as a one-armed paper hanger, and though he both appeared and sounded exhausted, he looked after us quite well (wine & water refills, timing of dishes, check out).

My favorite place
I love this place. I have been to several vegetarian places that range from expensive to not so expensive. This place is one of the more expensive places, but it is worth it. It is great for a date because of the atmosphere.

Amazing for both Vegs and Non-Vegs
I had the BLT (all vegetarian, of course), and it was incredible. The ingredients were fresh and the taste was rich and the food is filling. I took both of my non-vegetarian parents here and they were raving about it afterwards! Attractive staff, too!

Over rated
My boyfriend and I went on a special date and were disappointed. All started out good. Caeser salad app was best I've ever had. The other app. was less than than tasty. Our main courses were heavly spiced with an odd combo of things and neither of us ate much. We tried a dessert. Chocolate something and it was also not great. The bottom was def. burnt and the bill was expensive. The service was fine as we were one of the only 2 tables in there on a Sat. night...although it did take a REALLY long time for us to get our dessert, bill, etc. I'm a picky person so although I wasn't happy I thought my boyfriend may have enjoyed it (as he eats and loves EVERYTHING). As soon as we left though he turned to me and said "So that was pretty bad huh??" My thoughts exactly.

Best NYC Vegan/Vegetarian Restaurant!
This place is by far the BEST Vegan Restaurant in NYC, it beats all other Vegan and Vegetarian places hands down. The food is spectacular and rivals Greens in San Francisco. Not to mention it is one of the only vegan establishments that doesn't feel like a hippie cafe. The BEST!

Rather good
I'm a vegetarian, but not a vegan - me and a meat-eating friend went tonight (thursday night at about 7:30) and were seated immediately. Menu was pretty standard, and used a lot of the same ingredients, but creative. The food was really good - my friend got the stir-fry, which I would have gotten except that I basically make stir-fry myself all the time, and wanted to try something I couldn't make at home. I ordered the grilled seitan with carmelized mushrooms, spinach, and mashed potatoes. It came in yummy red wime sauce (almost tasted like gravy) . . and it was extremely flavorful and delicious. My friend enjoyed her meal, even though she's a serious carnivore. We both left satisfied and feeling healthy - the only downside is it's a little expensive, but all the ingredients are organic, so I guess thats expected, though I couldn't help but think some of it was becuase its trendy. p.s. - if you're not a vegan, hit up billys bakery across the street for dessert . . =)
