    Best for the money

I'm am so sorry to read the negative reviews of this restaurant. I happen to love iteven more now than with the previous owners. I think the food is much better and more consistent service is great. I don't know what else to say. I hope these people will give it another try.

There is a reason its always empty

The reviews here basically say it all - a great location, little competition, and really nice decor, and yet Bleu Evolution is terrible. The food is passable - but what a rip off. My wife and I had two pasta dishes (OK) and some red wine (not so OK), and it cost 70 bucks! Its fine if you want to charge midtown prices given the changing demographics in the area that are willing to pay them - but at least have some quality to back it up. There is definitely potential at Bleu - it just needs to change management and/or drop its prices. It sadly seems just too smug with the general lack of competition.

    Going downhill

when I first came to the neighborhood about 4 years ago Bleu was a location that I frequented. I regret to say that through the years Bleu has hit a downward spiral. Service has become shotty at best. Waitstaff frequently take a long time to come with drinks, forget about you and seem overwhelmed even when no one is around. The food is mediocre and drinks are good. It is such a disappointment because it has so much potential. I do hope they find a way to start climbing out of the rut they have created for themselves. I have a hard time recommending this one.

It could be so great, but it isn't

Bleu was a destination when I first came to this neighborhood. I quickly learned, however, that they had poor service, and not even very good food. I can't recommend this one. They screw up drink orders, water them down, and their food isn't nearly as good as it seems by the menu. I wish it was better, I really do.

    I had high hopes

I had brunch today and arrived pleased that we found a place that LOOKED decent with a nice crowd. By the time we left I was appalled and disappointed. 3 of us ate, two had the brunch, one ate off of the a la carte. We ordered the mini muffin basket to start and got just that. No small plates, no butter....just a basket of 4 mini muffins. We asked for these items and got only the butter. The brunchers had to ask for their juice after we realized that it never came, we asked for coffee 3 times before it showed up. And this was after we received and ate three quarters of our meals. When it came time to pay the bill we were overcharged! lol. So yeah, the service left A LOT to be desired, the food was ok but we all loved the toilet seats in the restroom. Talk about fancy!

    Okay if you live here

Overall, the food is okay. I appreciate that Bleu offers half size orders of pasta which is what I often get so I don't leave feeling over-stuffed. The fried calamari is decent. The daily fish special is often good. Salads are interesting except for the caesar which is very mayonnaisey. Wait service is good...if they get something wrong, which they sometimes do, they'll work with you. If you sit at the bar, the bartenders tend to be more attentive and friendly. Prices are reasonable for NYC but high for the neighborhood. Unless you order the half pasta ($8-$9)....a steal of a deal. While the restaurant looks interesting and alluringly dark at first, it is unclean and could use a good scrub along with new chairs and tables. And pleeease.....get rid of those pillows.

    Here's an idea...

If somebody wants to open a restaurant that serves good food, is reasonably priced, and has a nice atmosphere, this neighborhood is wide open. There are few options here and those that do exist, have mediocre food and very expensive prices. Blue Evolution is no exception. We eat here often but hate ourselves for doing so. The measly portions should be embarrassed by the price tag attached to them. I'm not sure what "vibe" they are going for, but it comes off as unclean (e.g., couches found on the sidewalk, old pillows, etc). "Bohemian" comes to mind. The service is actually pretty good and the food not unpalatable (I once had a split pea soup, for example, that would be worth ordering again if they lowered the price). But the overall dining experience makes me want to take a shower and see my accountant.
