    A real throwback

I love going here - the interior is a throwback to another time, long before World War II, one feels a Victorian atmosphere here really - its black and white boxing photos from long ago, its ancient photo of sports legends. The room beyond the bar is something out of Europe - bare stucco walls except for a few large mirrors. The food is plentiful and inexpensive, the beer is truly cheap. I love it.

    not worth a second chance

Decent atmosphere although a little dingy looking. Staff was friendly. It seemed like a good deal until I tasted the meatloaf - it was not good at all. It had the weirdest spice, like a cumin or something that just didn't belong in meatloaf. Mac and cheese was good. Pickles were really bad, like they had been sitting around for a month. A prior review also mentioned the bad pickles. Some of the regulars were cursing about the fact they couldnt get a real fork instead of plastic because they were in the dishwasher. A really obnoxious scene. I see no reason to ever suffer through lunch there again.

    irish pub grub

my experiences at the blarney stone have always been pleasant. for the past four years I have been meeting friends who work downtown here for lunch. this is a place for locals. the food and drink are cheap and you can find yourself engaged in a lively discussion on whatever sporting event is playing on television. and this is why the regulars keep coming. if you are expecting more, you just are not going to get it and i like it that way

    Not recommended

I had heard and read various reviews of the Blarney Stone, and on the most part they seemed to be positive about the food. One thing I distinctly remember hearing is that the burger was "one of the best in the Financial District". I went today with my girlfriend to try this much touted Blarney Stone Burger. The atmosphere was crummy, and the staff was for the most part...unresponsive. Unhindered by this, we ordered our burgers to go. I don't know that I have ever had such a subpar hamburger. It was an under seasoned, over cooked, meat puck that was a burger lover's nightmare. The pickles had been cured in some mysterious brine that made them smell unappetizing and taste as if they were pickles cured in a vat of wet salt and dish soap. The fries were burnt, limp, oily on the exterior and dry on the interior. I admit, it is possible that this restaurant can occasionally pump out a mediocre (instead of abysmal) burger, but I unwillingly to take such a gamble.

wish the atmosphere was as good

ok, when it comes to burgers, everyone is right.. this place has among the best burgers and fries in the financial district. the only problem is if you have ever gone their to pick up the food or order in person, the place looks and smells like a basement. the last time (which also happened to be the last time ill ever go there) the stale smell and unclean area that has the smell of a basement made me nauseous enough where i wont go there again - other than that, yeah the burgers are good.

Best Bang for your Buck! Real NYC

This place is the best finanical district spot to get a good everyday luch at a reasonable price. I hve been going there for years, as have most of the other people there. I get a great lunch and it's not some over priced gourmet deli place that gives tiny sandwiches better suited for a cocktail tray. The food is fresh, well prepared, and the portions will not leave you hungry by mid-afternoon so you can keep on working hard through the day. A real downtown establishment. Ask people who have worked downtown 15 for years, or those just getting into the grind and they will tell you the same thing. Good food. Good deal. And they respect your lunch HOUR with quick service.

Great atmoshpere & staff, below avg food

I absolutely loved the atmoshpere and the staff was very friendly. We received excellent service. However, the vegtables seemed like they were sitting ther all day; they were cold and the homefries were too tough and the green beans were super soggy. The pastrami was really good though. I think I would go back just for the great atmosphere and staff.
