Murray Hill / Gramercy >

If you're looking for a delicious greasy burger in Murray Hill, this is the place. No, it's not as good as Shake Shack, but it's way better than the 'diner' burgers otherwise available in the area, it's cheap, and delivery is always fast. Their vanilla shakes are close to perfect. The french fries are fine, but usually a little on the salty side.

Murray Hill has basically been devoid of a decent burger place for years - the only other burger place was named after a ski resort and basically served sloppy meatloaf on grocery store buns! Black Shack's burgers are great - I've tried the hamburger, the cheeseburger and the doublemeat burger - all served up sizzling and juicy. Nice basic and complimentary toppings also taste crisp and fresh. My wife didn't like the white-chocolate shake which had lots of carved chocolate shreds in it - I loved the peanut butter shake. Benches are a little uncomfortable, but the tunes are cool - way better than that techno trance junk @ Goodburger. I can hear myself think at Black Shack. Check 'em out!

I live a couple of blocks away from Black Shack and have been several times now. I wouldn't say its better than Shake Shack or the Burger Joint at the Parker Meridian. However, it's pretty damned good and by far the best in the neighborhood. I also tried their BBQ pulled chicken sandwich was awesome. The owner of the place is cool and also owns 67 burger in Fort Greene. It's similar to 67 but the burgers seem smaller which is the way I like them anyway. The interior of the pace is cool and now they server beer. It's great place to sit down, have a beer, a burger, and hang out with friends. A much welcomed addition to an otherwise very bland stretch of blocks.

The food is really great, great value, nice surprise. I think that it opened up recently. Would def recommend for someone looking for a quick burger and fries.

This place has gotten positive reviews, but note that there are only a few reviews. Very little variety, the fries are barely-defrosted, the milkshakes are overpriced and they only stock vanilla ice cream so don't even bother asking for a chocolate shake. It's just a subpar diner. Huge waste of money.

was looking for a change in places to go/order from for lunch. Found it on menupages and just gave it a shot. I am a picky eater and I thought the food was very good, would definitely order again (we had the western chicken and western tofu - delicious!). Delivery was fast, within a half hour of ordering. I didn't go there so I can't rate the atmosphere.

Been here three or four times since they opened. I'd compare it to the Blue 9/Goodburger style burger. Best burger in the city? No, but it's very good. Think of a much higher quality Whopper. Unlike BK, it tastes fresh. My biggest criticism is that I wish it was a little bigger. Then again, it's pretty cheap to begin with. I noticed they offer double meat for an extra two bucks so I'll have to try that next time. Sweet potato fries are excellent and a must have. The fresh mozzarella sandwich and the Western chicken sandwich are also great, and possibly even better than the burger in my opinion. One small strike against this place for being closed on Sundays. This is perfect football food
