The ambiance is nice. The facade of the restaurant is very indiscreet and the interior makes you feel like you've entered a very elitist type of place (although admittedly the majority of the patrons being comprised of an elderly caucasian crowd had much to do with this). The host and waiter were hospitable and friendly and made us feel comfortable right away. As a recent college graduate, I was not used to the prices but I understand that an entree priced at $21-31 is considered decent for an upscale restaurant. We had the wasabi tuna ,which was pretty good, and the halibut which was moist and delicious. We also had the calamari to start which could have been more crispy on the outside. I was tempted to go "cheap" and order the $16 burger but if I wanted a good burger I would've gone somewhere else for half the price. If you come here you want to get seafood and you want to make sure that you don't mind paying a little bit extra for a good meal and for the high class environment. If you want to impress someone for less than a $100, bring them here.

I had dinner there last night. The food was well worth the money. Loved the Scallops over the saurted Black Grapes and Roasted Almonds.... My Waiter was very polite. I disagree with the other reviews... the prices are affordable compared to most places.

We went for a dinner by chance and we nearly walk out after glancing at the prices. This place is not 5 Stars but the price seems like it. Anyway we dive in and boy we were disappointed.

My wife & I visit NYC twice a year and stay at the Park South - we enjoy Happy Hour at the Black Duck with $3.50 drafts, $6 martinis & $5 cocktails - we stopped in last week for a cheeseburger & drink & were surprised to see the cheesebuger was $16 compared to $13 in May of this year.

My girlfriend and I live in the neighborhood and have stopped in the Black Duck on numerous occasions for dinner. Over the last 2 months we've noticied the prices on the menu have gone up 3 times.

what happened to the cozy intimate place to carry on a "quiet conversation" - the new music is unfit for a romantic dinner in an otherwise lovely restaurant.

The ambiance was decent for a restaurant situated in a hotel. (Still seemed like an extension of the hotel bar). My husband's steak was average. My tuna-wasabi steak was also average. Service was decent. There was no good or bad surprise. For this, I think the food is decently priced. If you are expecting a tasty delight, this is not the place. But if you are looking for a place for casual and pleasant eat out with friends, this may be it.
