Food good but dessert menu changed and very boring
I used to go here for the tasty desserts but recent changes in this area dissapointing - ice cream or creme brûlée??? Why removing 3 inventive offerings and substitute for these 2 sleepers, neither of which were any good... On the positive, steak and muscles still good. Hopefully they don't substitute these with meatloaf and fishsticks or I'll need to go somewhere else for dinner as well as dessert!

Awesome small plates!
I have been into Bistrouge a few times and always come away happy. I was pleasantly surprised recently to see the addition of some really stellar appetizers/small plates that fit right in with the summer. Tried the shrimp w/ fried okra, beet salad, and calamari on endive salad. All were tops and of course also the cocktails are always good. I'll be back!

Best Mussels in New York
What an amazing food I had! I ordered the mussels and they came out in a huge bowl full of flavor. Mussels are perfectly cooked in beer and then topped with potato fries and aioli. After finishing up all the mussles and fries, I asked for bread to dip in that rich sauce. What a great little bistro!

Perfect dinner: amazing service, great atmosphere and the best food!
I never bother to write reviews, but this time I felt like I should. I have been to Bistrouge 4 or 5 times now (between November 08 and last weekend), trying both the brunch and dinner. Well the first time I was amazed, but I thought it was too good to be true. But surprisingly enough, each time has been as delightful than the first one. The owner is always around, recognize me every time and always has a nice word. The food can be very casual or very sophisticated; cocktails are also worth trying. The only little thing is that the service is a bit slow at times, but the atmosphere is so pleasant that you fill like chilling anyway. Go there!

Great dessert & friendly staff
The staff go their extra mile to make sure you have a nice dinning experience. Love the decor and its just so cozy. Everytime I go back, I always order their Belgium callabaut chocolate bread pudding with cream anglaise- it is absolutely delicious and the portion is also sharable.

great cocktails and chill vibe
The food here was great and the cocktails are fantastic. The service was very accommodating and went out of their to show us a nice time. It felt a little empty but I'm sure as more people find about it, that'll change quickly.

A French diner right on 13 Street!
This is the perfect place for recession blues the prices are reasonable, the food delicious and there's a wide variety from sandwiches to rack of lamb specials. The atmosphere is relaxed/elegant, a cross between American diner and European cafe. The staff is energetic and upbeat. I love the red banquettes, the informal space and the artichokes with peas and manchego cheese. Going back for more . . .
