Amazing
Amazing from the second i walked in the door! we were a group of 4 and we ordered like there was no tomorrow. Everything from the Oysters, Escargot, through to the Duck Confit and Steak au Poivre was exceptional. One of the best meals that i have experieinced in a long time!

Older crowd that all knows each other
Maybe it was an off night, but we felt kind of uncomfortable there. We got a strange look from the maître d’ when we said we didn't have reservations. The crowd seemed cliquish as well. Everyone who walked in seemed to know the manager. He was perfectly gracious to us, but it still felt uncomfortable like we didn't fit in--perhaps that was because we were several decades younger than most of the other guests. The crowd was really much older (the well-off UES type in their 50's and 60's). Once we were seated though, the service was very good (despite having our waitress switched out for a waiter halfway through...) and the food was great. I would recommend this place with the caveats above.

Memorable Dinner on 44th B'day
The atmosphere was so much better then the old cramped quarters at the restaurant's prior locations. The service was great. Most importantly, the food was delicious: mussels, filet mignon, molten lava black chocolate cake and a excellent selection of fine wines. We especially enjoyed being seated under a large skylight, and look forward to eating out on the dinning terrace on a warm summer's night.

Not as hoped!
After having had many a wonderful dinner at Jubilee, why wouldn't we have expected the same at Bistro Vendome? To begin with ...noise...seated in the backroom at a four top against the rear wall we just couldn't hear one another. The sound coming from the other patrons was bouncing all over the room making intimate conversation all but impossible. The food...while the mussels were good the bread was subpar and the entrees of Bronzini and breast of chicken just average. Even the much anticipated frites were disappointing. Service was fair too as one of our entrees was delivered to another table. Though the host made up for this miscue by bringing us dessert "on the house". Needless to say we walked out disappointed and do not expect to return.

Dinner at Bistro Vendome: 2.20.10
I've never written a review for a restaurant in 40 years. I have no relationship with anyone at BV. We ate there this past Saturday evening. The staff is very solid, the food was excellent, as was the wine. The Maitre d' was exceptional. My seared scallops with a mushroom risotto was so delicious, if no one was looking, I'd have licked the plate! It's a gem; they've been open only a short time; eat there now; soon you'll be waiting a month. Bon Apetit!

Good Food - Subpar Atmosphere
Really good homey French bistro food in a cold uninspired space that feels more like a dime-a-dozen wanna-be hip Italian joint than a casually cool French bistro. The bottom line is that we would certainly eat there again for a regular dinner but we wouldn't choose it for a night out with friends. Nightclub house music has to go.
