Great French Restaurant
I found this restaurant purely by accident - it was pouring rain and this was the first place I came to. It was so warm and inviting and the Wild Mushroom Soup with crusty bread was perfect for a rainy day.

Very good value
I found Bistro Les Amis on this site and I found that it was charming and a bit romantic. We were greeted at the door and seated for our 8pm reservation which I would recommend, the place was packed. The waiter was very helpful in giving detail on the appetizer and meal. We shared the the pastry wrapped goat cheese served over fresh greens and topped with well done bacon, the flavor combination was awesome. My date had the encrusted filet and I had a special of a burgundy wine stew served over a bed of linguine both were very good and the portions were more than adequate. For dessert the home made cheese cake was solid and the creme brule was out of this world. Bistro Les Amis was well worth it!

This is one of a few
We went to Bistro les amis without any expectation, what a surprise. The foie grais and the crab cake were the best . The Steak was very tender and the frites was the way it should taste, also we had the Cassoulet it was heaven. This is a grown up atmosphere, no nonsense in this place. We'll defiantly be back.

Mostly hit, some miss
I went to this place after checking it out on menupages and thinking it looked great. The atmosphere and service were great. The appetizers were EXCELLENT. Then came the entrees and we were disappointed. The filet mignon was nothing special, pretty run of the mill. More surprisingly, the chicken was DRY. I can take a filet mignon being less than amazing, it is not a very flavorful cut anyway, and usually it comes as is, but the chicken being dry? I was surprised after how great the appetizers were. The other entree that was ordered was escargot ravioli and it was great. So, unfortunately, the meal was tainted (especially for the person who ordered the chicken) but a bad apple or two. Maybe it was just a fluke...

Perfect, no nonsense, French restaurant
Had a late dinner there last night. The staff was courteous on the phone for the reservation and courteous when were at the restaurant. The food arrived quickly, and was quite tasty. Highly recommended.

Our favorite restaurant in NYC!
Bistro Les Amis holds a special place in my heart. Debbie and Roy, the owners, are dear people who are so welcoming and lovely and wonderful. Said, the maitre'd, is fantastic and such a joy to see each time we come in. The ambience is left bank bistro and the service is the best you will find anywhere. The food is absolutely delicious. The foie gras with maple sauce and apples is just to die for. The calamari appetizer is also excellent. We live for the filet mignon with carmelized onions but the special couscous is excellent as is the lambshank and...oh who am I kidding...EVERYTHING here is delicious! By far, this is my favorite restaurant in New York...though it is small and cozy, you will not find a more charming place to eat.
