    Great Experience

Asked for French Onion soup, light with cheeze, got it. Asked me how I wanted my salmon cooked (that never happens), said MR, got it. Everything we had, the calamari, the soup, the salmon, the halibut, the apple struddle, everything was fantastic. The service was excellent in most ways. i spilled the water and by the time the glass hit the table a server was there to dry the area. The only area of weakness was at the end. We were in no hurry and neither was the waiter. Another server came over and took our desert order. It seemed like a family run restaurant in that way. Very friendly, easy atmosphere. BTW, the Bread is outrageous...careful, it'll ruin dinner. We will definitely be back, and we will bring friends.

    Love the sidewalk cafe!

Sat outside with a friend at dusk. We split the mussels. Very tasty! After, we went on to the roasted duck breast and hanger steak. Both were so good, we shared them too. Cooked perfectly medium rare. Finally a place that understands what mediumm rare means. The service was amazing. From the second we were approached we felt welcome. Not a pretentious person on the staff (my pet peeve). We both had a very relaxed ending to a pretty stressful day, and never felt rushed. Our bill came to under $100 WITH a bottle of wine. I will be sure to come back and take advantage of the sidewalk cafe before it gets cold again. Thompson St is just busy enough for some good people watching. Looking forward to bringing family here over the holidays too!

I cant' believe I never knew about this place before!

When I was shopping in SoHo this past week, (I love summer Fridays!) I was starving and asked the gentleman who was assiting me at a store off of West Broadway where to eat some lunch. He directed me to Bistro Les Amis, what a find. Cute restaraunt with a lovely outside dinning area, the staff had big smiles when I approached and sat me immediately. I was sooo hungry I couldn't decide what to eat because everything sounded good, so I asked my waiter and he gave me a couple of his favs. So I chose the Curry Chicken salad. It was lite, refreshing and actually really filling. It totally reinvigorated me for more shopping. In the end, I was served quickly and efficiently by a very caring staff with good food at reasonable prices in SOHO! I'm taking my fiance back for diner.

    Excellent!

Nothing better than expectation being met! We were recommended highly to this restaurant. When the praise is that good, I become skeptical. I started out with the mussels which I ended up using the delicious bread to wipe the last of the sauce. Then my filet was cooked to perfection. My spouse who usually is not as easy to please walked away with raving reviews of the French onion soup and had devoured his unique monkfish dish. We ended up staying well pass my bedtime but were having such an enjoyable time we couldn't get up to leave. I must add our waitress was a bonus...a delight and quite entertaining. Would return sooner than later.

    uh oh

Sorry folks but I agree with "really?" - our food was really not good. I'd have to agree that the hangar steak was either microwaved or reheated. The crab cakes were unpleasant as well. The veggies were over salted and over buttered. Only the salad tasted good. Maybe the chef was having an 'off' night when we went? Is it possible there is a substitute chef who microwaves the steak when the head chef is out??

    Closed prematurely

It says they close at 1am on Saturday. I called ahead to confirm and was told the kitchen closes at 12:30. We arrived at 11:52pm and was told the kitchen had closed! I complained, to no avail. Do not recommend.

    Quite Nice

This place is a pleasant small resturant with excellent service and very good food. The music was jazzy french and added alot to the ambiance. A good value in SoHo.
