I have dined here with a group twice and on both occasions, the dishes varied greatly. The other night, we had an excellent gaspacho special, excellent tarte aux oignons, but very mediocre salade Citron. The scallops & shrimp was fabulous, the sole was good, the duck was good - the preparation of the leg was interesting even if the meat in it was a little overcooked. However, the steak frites was disappointing. The steak was ok but the fries tasted like they had been pre-made and frozen! The lemon tart was good, the crepes were ok but the profiteroles were totally bland. We ordered different wines by the glass because of the variation in main courses and we were pleased with what was served. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant.

My boyfriend and I ate dinner at the bar because we were in somewhat of a hurry. Our Stellas were cheap ($5!!!) and the food came fast. The burger was thick, deliciously seasoned, and perfectly cooked even the bun was perfectly toasted. The fries were dangerous! Our Salad Citron was delicious and fresh. The host was friendly and the bartender was sweet and attentive. The atmosphere of the diners was relaxed, but tasteful. Definitely will be back.

I came here last night for a date. When the host gave me a blank stare and walked away when I told him I had a reservation, I should have taken the hint and left. I managed to get his attention again and he told me to wait at the bar. Fair enough. The bartender took forever to take our drink orders, and when he finally made the drinks he neglected to give them to us, and just went back to making drinks for the tables. When we finally got seated 20 minutes later, the waiter was not competent and didn't even bother to tell us the specials. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast, which was tough as all hell and when I sent it back they just brought it back even more overcooked. Inedible. I would avoid this place if I were you.

I was a customer on the evening of 12/26 when I ordered the weekly special, the cassoulet. It never should have come to the table. The sausage was burnt and full of gristle, the chicken leg (which should have been duck or goose) was cooked beyond recognition and edibility. The mystery meats were not particularly succulent. The beans were excellent. I have not written before as I have been out of town; I didn't say anything at the time as I was hosting my daughter (who was in from out-of-town law school) and I didn't want tospoil her evening. I would have emailed this, but could find no e-address. I am fond of your restaurant, and would like to return often.

I went to Bistro Citron and was served by one of the best waiters I have ever been served by in New York, We had a great dining experience, the food was excellent. We celebrated an occasiion, and the waiter was very helpful in guiding through the menu and the wines. He was extremely attentive without ever bothering us during out meal. I believe his name was Noel (that's what it said on the check). If you ever go there for a solid good French meal, do ask for Noel to serve you: he will make a good meal and Great One!

We are almost hesitant to give this place such a good review. The service is fabulous. The food is unbelievable. Just go there and hang out there. Sit at the bar, have a wonderful meal and meet great people. A place to go for any occassion. Have fun there --- we certainly do.

My Mother and I wandered into the Bistro Citron on our last evening in New York. It turned out to be the best meal we had during the trip! I notice this restaurant isn't recommended often on travel forums, so I'll definitely throw my vote in for this place. The service was great, the food delicious, and we'll definitely go back next time!
