    Good but could be better

The pate with bread is amazing and free. Just need to start off with that comment. That said the food items were okay depending on what you ordered. My friends and I shared all our dishes. The scallops and shrimp was quite delicious. Perfectly seared and not too buttey. The Saturday short rib special was tasty but under seasoned. It was lacking salt which was easily remedied and improved. That said, the duck was a failure. It was dry and chewy. My view is that it was too lean. French duck needs to be a bit fatty. We did end the night with an amazing creme brulee. I don't even like sweets and it was delicious.

    Nothing French About This Place

Avoid at all costs. Came twice to eat arond 9:30 and was sent away because they "closed the kitchen early". Finally made it for dinner and was very dissapointed. Waiter was unfamiliar with menu or wine, manager stepped in to help and oversold us a 135$ bottle of wine instead of the 75 dollar bottle they were out of. Food was sent to wrong table twice and finally arrived bland, reheated dry, and still cold . I am a chef who worked in NYC for 22 years, and there is nothing worse than a place pretending to know how to run a restaurant. Let alone bistro style.

    Great food and ambiance :)

I have been to this restaurant numerous times, and just logged on to menupages to check the address to send to my friend who is meeting me there tonight. I can't believe that this place isn't 5 stars. The food is delicious, and a great value, especially considering the cozy atmosphere. The mussels are erfect, accompanied by a great bread (necessary for this dish), good wine selection, excellent salad nicoise, and lamb chops. Everything I have ever tried here has been flawless. I highly recommend it.

    French Neighborhood Bistro

We've been here several times, most recently this past New Years Eve. The staff is very accommodating and they don't do a silly NYE prix fixe. The bread, butter and fois gras alone could be a meal. Love the onion tart and onion soup as well as the frisee with egg and bacon. The paella for 2 is more than adequate and chock full of seafood. The duck breast is wonderful as well as most of the entrees. Never been disappointed. The menu has plenty to offer if you like typical French bistro food.

    What a great place

We went to Bistro Citron last night to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I couldn't have chosen better. The food was delicious. I had the sole amendeen and it was cooked to perfection. The greatest part of the evening was the service. Rarely have I been served so graciously. Will definitely come back.

    Great staff

Excellent food, great service. Our party loved the ravioli, tuna and the salmon with lentils. Good wine recommendations, love the place

    Not recommended

I come to New York once a year, and i love to stay at the hotel by central park west. it happened that i stopped that night at citron bistro with my girl friend. we are both french and we thought that citron will reflect the image of what is the real and authentic bistro in france. unfortunately, nothing was like we expected , all the dishes had the right name spelled in french. but no one of this dishes represented the right food that we serve in france . steak au poivre was over cooked and the mussels were bland and had no taste. besides, no one knew how to pronounce the dishes name, the right way, not only that , but the manager was so arrogant , and the service was poor. i already mentioned it to the concierge of our hotel. and i don't recommend it to no one who is looking for french food.
