Amazing Find on the West Side

My boyfriend and I came across this bistro after a show at Lincoln center...and honestly it is the best place to eat within the area...amazing food !I had the hangar steak and my husband had the sole...it was delicious..the service was great and the place is pretty. While we waited 5 minutes for a table we had a drink at the bar, the staff was pleasant and courteous, I see that there are negative comments on this about service but we have nothing to complain about...I know the customer is always right but some customers that were coming in were the rude ones!...maybe you should think twice about being rude to people that handle your food...We loved this place and hope to go back soon!..and please the strollers! this lady and her husband sat next to us and didnt even bother to close the stroller...I dont have to mention how difficult it was to get up to use the restroom....annoying!...C'mon people use your brains the place is a small bistro!!! Forget the negative comments ...I HIGHLY recommend it!

    Not recommended

We went for brunch. The food is bad. Mesclun mix was not fresh (green leaves were dark brown at the ends). Also, the shrimp in the crepe was way over salted. The service is very so so. I do not recommend it.

    Great neighborhood standard!

Good food, really nice hosting done by, I think, the owner - a gregarious handsome guy - generally crowded at peak but they have been very accurate with estimated wait times. They should have more bar area seating and could loose the tv up front but otherwise delish! Oh and the butter and pate that you get to start is a nice touch.

    Charming French Bistro

My husband and I discovered Bistro Cassis last night on our way home from the theater. It is a charming restaurant with excellent mussels and delicious tartine. The service was quite pleasant. I'm a bit puzzled by the negative reviews. I would highly recommend this lovely bistro and look forward to my next visit.

    a gem

I actually read quite a few of the less than stellar reviews of service, then happened to be in the neighborhood and was so curious about all the bad press that my date and I decided to go. As a fairly frequent diner in mid to upscale NYC establishments, I feel confident in saying that this was some of THE BEST service I have ever had in New York, and in recommending that everyone try this place, even if only to satisfy your own curiosity about the service. In addition to the truly excellent service, my date and I also had some of the best French food NYC has to offer. My hanger steak was absolutely perfect. My dad is a chef and I know my meat. This is GOOD. The wine list is great, the decor is aesthetic and tasteful, and the food is really something special. TRY IT!!!!!!!

    Awesome!

The person posting nastly reviews about the host must seriously be a jilted ex. The staff and host are lovely as is the ambiance. Food is amazing. Everyone I know on the Upper West side loves this place and has since it opened. Highest recomendation for the sole and their world-classs fries.
