    Not worth the money

Too expensive for what you get. Good mussels and fries and salads. The meze is too salty and the "free" wine with four appetizers and four mains is undrinkable. When crowded, there is no service!

    bridal shower at bistro 61

i had my bridal shower brunch at bistro 61 and it couldn't have been better. we didn't rent out the entire restaurant but the staff did a fantastic job of rearranging the tables so that it felt as if we were the only ones there. everyone - manager, servers, chef - was so incredibly accommodating and delightful to work with. we had quite an extensive menu of items to choose from - several egg dishes, french toast, pancakes, crepes, desserts - and it was all very reasonably priced. the food came out hot and delicious - a serious feat for a party of 36 people. i used to live a few blocks from bistro 61 and we always had a positive experience there - brunch and dinner - but i was completely blown away by the food and service for the shower. amazing!

    Yum!

I went with some friends who live in the neighborhood and they were raving about this place. They could not have been more right. It is so charming. Since my first visit, I travel from uptown just to go there. Although the place gets busy, there is never a rush. The staff could not be more accommodating and friendly. And the food is very tasty. It is definitely not heavy old style french cooking. The mussels are the best I've ever had. Even the staple items like roast chicken are delicious. Nice wine selection by the glass. I could go on and on..... but I won't. And in this economy, it really is great value for the money!

    Love this place

We discovered bistro about 2 years ago and have been going at least twice a month. The food specials are wonderful. The Cassoulet is to die for. On a busy night we had to wait 40 minutes for a table (unusual) and we were given a nice bottle of wine as an apology. The service is wonderful. Good wine selection. A must if you like good food.

Wonderful food and atmosphere, questionable staff

My fiance and I have been to this restaurant three times. We have enjoyed the food every single time; It is extremely delicious and very much in the tradition of French Bistro (with a generous hint of Italian and Spanish). The risotto is fantastic and the pasta is great; pretty good for a French man. And the fries, mussels and hanger steak are my personal favorites. However, the staff is a little to relaxed around the customers. Don't get me wrong, I like a staff who is interactive, low key and pleasant. However, they should not be sitting at the bar (and this includes the chefs) talking amongst themselves while their customers are dining. Additionally, one time we apparently stayed longer then they liked, as they hovered around our table waiting for us to leave, whispering to one another and giving us furtive glances. Keep in mind, we were still ordering booze and there were three or four empty tables in the joint. Overall I love the place, but I think the staff needs a slight kick in the backside in regard to their treatment of, and behavior around the customers. But only a small one.

    Mussels, Mussels & More Mussels

I have been loving this place for more than a year and never knew about mussel night on Tuesdays. They have all you can eat mussels and fries every Tuesday night. There are four different kinds of mussels and you can try them all! Since it was my first time, I probably ate too many because they were sooo delicious. Next time I'll pace myself better. I cant wait!
