Executive Chef Anthony Raggiri & Head Chef Adil Fawzi are the team responsible for the creation of a menu not too often seen in a bistro setting. The menu is a sophisticated, creative combination of classic Provencal fare fused with inspiration from the Mediterranean coast. Chef Anthony Raggiri's menu provides the palette with an eclectic array of dishes drawing tastes from his native Marseille, Spain, Italy, Greece & Morocco, all the while staying true to the premise that less is more. The consistency of the food is obvious to any of their regulars. Walls of exposed brick & bare, candlelit walnut tables create an inviting atmosphere, providing a decidedly Old World ambience to this Upper East Side gem. In the warmer months, the Bistro provides austere yet comfortable outdoor seating; with cafe space on both the avenue & street surrounding this cozy corner spot.

Worth it!
I don't usually write reviews unless its awful or fantastic. I eat in or takeout from Bistro 61 quite often. After 3 years, I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal here. The consistency of their food is excellent. When they are very busy, the service can be spotty but overall is friendly and inviting. I highly recommend it.

Pleasant bistro experience
A comforting menu complimented by a simple but pleasing wine selection, this bistro is an excellent weekday spot (or weekend if noise doesn't turn you off). Maybe a little salty.. But overall a pleasant experience.

Amazing Burger!
This place has AMAZING food! Ordering muscles as an apetizer is a must. For the entree i had their burger which is topped with a slice of foie gras... oh my goodness, this was the best burger i have ever eaten. I'm drooling just thinking about it! I highly recommend!

Very pleasant but noisy
The food was very good with generous portions and the staff was attentive and pleasant. The problem is that the tables are quite small and jammed together. The noise is loud and it bounces (walls are brick and both ceiling and floor are hard surfaces). People need to talk louder and louder to converse beyond the background noise level, so it just builds up. (Percussion music from bar does not help.) Some people just love a noise "buzz" in a restaurant. If so, this is for you (but not for me.)

Fabulous!
Bistro 61 is wonderful in every respect: fresh, innovative, delicious food; friendly and attentive staff; cozy, authentic bistro atmosphere; and a great value (ex: all you can eat mussels & fries with a glass of wine for $25!). Seriously, just go here, you will not be disappointed!

Not so good anymore...
Really disappointed in the food tonight. Carrot soup tasted like water, sardines were old, bill was added up wrong. Really no excuse for all of this. I have loved this place but something's gone wrong. They need to pay attention. I can't see going back. It's not cheap and one should be able to count on the simplest of things...
