You must try this wonderful place

Adil and his staff are exceptionally personable and warm. This was my first visit and I immediately felt at home. The wine recommendations were perfect and the lentil soup was the best I’ve had in all of the places around the world I’ve tried it. For the entree I had the fettucine with sausage which was really really good. Cooked perfectly al dente. I love this place and plan to return!

Love this Upper East Side NYC French Restaurant

Consistently great and authentic French Bistro food. The staff is attentive and incredibly sweet/friendly. The food came out pretty quickly (but not too quick) and it was so well prepared. We will be going back.

Upper East Side French Bistro NYC

Bistro 61 located in NYC's low Upper East Side is a French Bistro / French Restaurant with a really great vibe. It has what you want in a French Bsitro - dim lighting, outdoor space, comfortable seating, great wine list, clean, mellow music, happy customers. The moules frites are phenomenal and so is the onion soup. Bistro 61 offers a best in class French restaurant / bistro menu and is not crazy expensive like some other French restaurants in NYC- definitely going back.

    A great neighborhood bistro

I had three specials, the Gazpacho, the clams and the pasta Bolognese. My friend had the mussels with mustard sauce and the lamb burger. All were excellent and worth returning for. We were there on a less than crowded night, so it was very quiet. The service was spotty, the waitress was great, food came in a timely matter and they cleared empty dishes quickly, but I couldn't get my water glass refilled. I will go back. Worth a stop when you are in the area.

    A solid bistro

The ambiance at Bistro 61 is very pleasant, a true neighborhood French Bistro, low on lights. I found the food to be very good. I had a rabbit stew that was delicious although it was not a stew the way I know that dish as small pieces, it was the entire thigh and leg, but tasty nevertheless. The endive salad was delicious. My husband had the moules marinieres and he said he’d had better, I thought they very just fine. The French Fries nice and crispy. The service was good and we never lacked, but from our seats we could see the wait staff glued to the screen of their cell phones instead of looking at the customers. The poor manager was all over the place, most attentive and observant.

    Worth it!

I don't usually write reviews unless its awful or fantastic. I eat in or takeout from Bistro 61 quite often. After 3 years, I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal here. The consistency of their food is excellent. When they are very busy, the service can be spotty but overall is friendly and inviting. I highly recommend it.

    Pleasant bistro experience

A comforting menu complimented by a simple but pleasing wine selection, this bistro is an excellent weekday spot (or weekend if noise doesn't turn you off). Maybe a little salty.. But overall a pleasant experience.
