If you need gluten-free...
This is a great place. I have lived in the neighborhool for year sand never eaten here because I didn't know they accommodate those with gluen-free needs. What a delight to find such a place! Friendly, good food and cozy atmosphere. A good value for the money. I'm glad I found them.

Great Murray Hill Italian
Wow, can't believe I've lived in the hood this long and never tried this place. Service was excellent, and food is priced pretty reasonably. They start you off w/ a complimentary piece of bruschetta and then bring you tasty bread w/ garlic infused olive oil. The salads were excellent and our waitress advised us the cook is happy to make exceptions to your dish or make changes. Tasty veal parm and a delicious apple crumb cake!

OMG! What a great place!
We celebrated my daughter's 17th birthday party with family, last night. We're out of towners so we chose Bistengo because of the good reviews on Menupages.com... sight unseen!. The great reviews did not do this place justice. The FOOD! The SERVICE! Firstly, they set out a DELICIOUS bread with a side dish of olive oil with fresh garlic! *Warning: Don't be tempted to eat too much of this...save room, as they keep the good bread coming!* We had a liter of their house Cab. Sauv. It was far superior to any house red I have ever had ANYWHERE! (It was also reasonably priced) The entrees were WONDERFUL. I had the shrimp w/gorgonzola, one of the house specials... all I can say is OMG! I wanna go back TONIGHT! I sampled other dishes around the table as there were six of us. MM.. MMM... MMMM! For dessert: Get the homemade Tiramisu. It was the best one. The manager was a wonderfully helpful and sincere host. You knew that there were many regulars there, last night, as he was hugging and kissing a LOT of people and talking with them. The prices were very modest for what you get. (I don't see how they can give serve such great food at these prices... Shhh.. don't tell them they aren't charging enough!) In conclusion, I can't recommend this place anyone else, as I WANT IT ALL TO MYSELF! :) I live out of town, but I tell you the truth, any time I come back to NYC, I'm going to Bistango! Incredible place. I feel as if I need to write a love sonnet for this place!

The Best!
We have been coming to Bistango's for years now and it's the closest thing to my Italian grandmother's cooking. We probably would have moved out of the neighborhood years ago if it weren't for this little gem. The service is impeccable and the food is absolutely delicious. My husband are I are addicted to the marinara sauce... whenever we're on vacation we actually dream of being back at Bistangos. It's hands down the greatest Italian in NYC.

Been Coming Back For Years
It's like visiting your favorite family members. The food is great, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff friendly and efficient, the wine list has great value and the manager is the best in New York City. I started going to Bistango the week it opened and have consistently enjoyed all its charms these many years. My dog and I had dinner in the cafe last night, as we do almost once a week. My friends and family continue to return and recommend it to others.

Great place
My brother introduced me to it when he lived in murray hill, now it is my favorite, not only for Anthony's great hospitality but the food is great too. My favorite is the seafood fra diavlo, I get it over broccoli. Great wine list too, you won't be dissapointed.

Poor at Best
After reading all these reviews I decided to eat here last night. Walking in the place does have a nice feel to it. They even brought some nice bread (initially), on the 2nd basket they brought dinner rolls (that you would buy at the price club). Then the food came... the appetizers were bland, nothing special. The veal piccata I ordered had no flavor. The pizzeria next door probably has the same caliber of Italian Food.
