Still great after all these years

I have been eating at this restaurant since the late '80's. The food just keeps getting better and better. They always seem to find new ways to reinvent this restaurant. One of the owners is always there to make every customer feel like they've come to his home for dinner. All are made to feel especially welcome and pampered. If you haven't tried this place yet, you're missing out on something very delicious and very special.

    Great Dinner Date

Went here for a date and the overall experience was awesome. Service was great, although our waiter was a little awkward and came over to check on us too much. Food was excellent but portions were not huge. Wine was awesome and the prices were not too bad. Not the best Italian I've had in the city, but it was definitely a great place that I would go back to!

    Delicious, Comfortable and Relaxing

I LOVE what the owners have done with Bistango in the past year. They transformed it into the most lovely dining experience in Murray Hill. The food was good before, but it is much more refined now. It feels like dining in a European bistro, with normal, not "American-sized" portions. The waiters are attentive, they are willing to cater to your needs / food allergies, and are overall just delightful to deal with. The host dropped by during the meal and again on our way out to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Their lunch specials are wonderful too. I can't say enough good things about this place :)

    Was treated rudely; mediocre food

I went into this restaurant alone at lunchtime, and the waiter showed me 3 bad tables in a row even though there were many free tables that were fine. Finally I picked a table myself. As a woman who often eats alone, I feel this was extremely poor treatment. I had the Polo Con Mozzarella E Pruscutto, which was not very good. The salad was tasteless iceberg lettuce with underripe tomatoes. Will never go to this restaurant again.

    The Best!

My wife and I called about an hour before arriving - they told us to come on over. Granted there was a wait, but we sat at the bar and had some drinks and an appetizer on the house. Once seated we enjoyed the always great food and wine. On our way out we were stopped by Anthony (the owner) at the bar and had an after dinner drink on the house again! Bistango knows how to take care of their patrons. It's always the best and we'll return again and again.

one of my favorite places in nyc

I absolutely love Bistango. The food is the perfect combination of comfort and cuisine. I was bit unnerved with the renovations, but after a number of visits my confidence has been restored. Actually the food has gotten better due to a few changes to the already successful menu. Bistango also offers some of the best service in the city. The staff is both accommodating and polite. The owner is probably the kindest, most genuine man on the planet. Bistango isn't trying to be another pretentious NYC eatery. They offer beautiful food in a friendly place.

    Thank you Bistango!

I visited Bistango after reading the great reviews re: their service, food, and their ability to cater to gluten free "diets." As a person with celiac, I never expected to find a restaurant that would make me feel at home, as opposed to a paranoid, worried, uncomfortable customer with questions galore. My boyfriend and I went to the restaurant and when I asked if they had a gluten free menu, the kind waiter said "We can make everything on the lunch menu gluten free, outside of the ravioli - and anything on the brunch menu gluten free - except the waffles. " I was in heaven already. I ordered a salad and pasta dish ($14 dollars total on the pre fixe menu). The salad was small but delicious and the pasta (eggplant, marinara, mozzarella, etc) dish was just perfect. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his food as well - gluten and all! The best part of the meal was when the bread came out in the beginning (usually the worst part of a celiac's meal) - They brought my boyfriend a slice of his own bread, and I got my own gluten free version - which was actually very good! They made our entire meal feel comfortable and easy. Thank you Bistango..we'll definitely be back! And the value was unbeatable!
