If you live or visit UWS, it is a "must go" place. Highly recommended!!!

I was so excited to try this wine bar, esp bc I've read and walked by the outdoor dining. It looks so cute and I've read that finding a place to sit can be challenging. I got off of work early last Wed and decided to meet some friends at Bin 71. I walked in and the bar was tiny, which was fine bc we were planning to sit outside. When I walked into the bar it was early about 5:30 and there were 3 people sitting at the bar and the bartender. She didn't say one word to me nor ever ask me if I wanted to sit outside etc. I just stood in the doorway waiting for my friend. This would normally be fine except the place is so small that you feel kind of silly. I asked if I could have a glass of wine and sit outside and she said not until everyone arrived. It was just odd, so I sat outside and then ended up leaving bc she never came out to ask if we wanted anything once my friends did arrive. Not returning, there are plently of other wine bars in the area that have no attitude.

The food here is absolutely delicious. The wine selection is great and they also have some pretty sweet beers of tap.

When we first discovered Bin 71 we were over the moon because we fancy ourselves sommeliers and adore anything having to do with the world of wine. If you can find a seat (quite challenging), it is the epitome of romantic with such intimate quarters. The staff is helpful and will allow for small tastes, etc. However, in the last few months, it seems that the prices have increased, the selection has turned south, and the amount of wine they consider a glass is laughable. If I am paying $12 -$14 for a glass of wine, please do not pour me a third of a glass. This was never the case before so we are a bit perplexed. That being said, if $ is no object, then definitely go but be ready to order a second or third glass. I, in no way want to deter patrons, but just give them fair warning. I guess a 'glass' of wine is subjective.

a very comfortable place to go for lunch - great food, friendly service, diverse wine list for size - comfortable place to sit at the bar , have a glass of wine and read the paper.
