cupcakes are very dry. cheesecakes are good, especially the pumpkin

disappointing
i've been to billy's a couple of times now, always wanting to give them another chance and every time i try a few different choices with friends. the first time i thought it was maybe an off-day, an off-batch, whatever. the second time i realized that the cupcakes are just really dry.

Yum!
Gorgeous little bakery! We were spoilt for choice, but eventually decided on Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie ... OMG! and a Hello Dollies bar. Both were delicious, but especially the huge piece of pie! Nice staff, cute, quaint decor. Will visit again.

great cake, tiny venue
I always pick up cupcakes every time I visit NYChave been a loyal Billys customer ever since we lived here and bought our daughters first two birthday cakes here. Quality consistently excellent. Icing is really sweet (which I happen to like). Service usually pretty good. Not enough tables. For take home cupcakes, best in NY.

The Dream Cupcake
I can't believe how good the cupcakes are at Billy's Bakery. I have yet to try out cupcakes at Magnolia so I can not make a comparison just now but the cupcakes here are phenomenal. The icing is just the right amount of sweetness and the cupcake itself is so moist and delicious. Every bite is like a festive parade. The colors of the icing is so cute and the store itself is very inviting. The service was great even though there were a good number of people gathered waiting in line for their deserts. It was a great experience and I've been obsessed ever since.

Magnolia who?
I have always been a Magnolia fan. I have been hearing about Billy's for a while, but have not gotten a chance to try it until just now. Well I can honestly say that there is no need to ever go to Magnolia again. The cake here is beyond phenomenal, all of their choices are perfect. There are many recipes that are exactly the same as Magnolia, such as my favorites, the red velvet cake and the Oreo ice box...same recipe but BETTER! Improved upon! The flavors are just the same, only the cakes are SO MOIST, the one thing Magnolia lacked. PLUS they have so many choices Magnolia doesn't, banana cake being just one. If you are a Magnolia fan, you will DEFINITELY switch to Billy's after just one bite. PLEASE do yourself a favor and try it, you will NOT be disappointed.

Very poor service!
I was VERY disappointed in the service I received at Billy's Bakery. I called ahead and they told me that I could come in and place an order and that it would be ready within the day ( 2 cupcakes decorated with iced wedding bells). When I got to Billy's (which is not in my neighborhood) they said they don't know who would have told me that information because they could not place a same day order or do special decorating on cupcakes. The girl that helped me was rude and acted as if I was crazy! I was VERY disappointed and thought this was very poor customer service. So I left without ever trying a cupcake...
