    Not recommended

Did not realize that simple italian food could be made so poorly. We order an eggplant parm hero and baked ziti. Hero had some mush in the middle maquerading as eggplant and the roll was untoasted and soggy. As for the ziti, the cheese was barely edible and it tasted like they poured a can of tomato soup in it when they baked it.

    Love this place!

You can't go wring with Nick's. The menu is 25 pages long and even has an index. I love this place. The atmoshpere is a little seedy, but that's what makes it so great. Cheese pizza is delicious. Very fast delivery and great prices!

Best french toast I've ever had

I live in SoHo, and we'll take the train all the way up just to go to Big Nick's. I've not had the burgers, nor the pizza, (my boyfriend approves of both, and mentions that the pizza is Greek-style -- a little puffy) but I can speak from many experiences when I say that the challah french toast is simply amazing. It's breaded with a sort of crumbly coating, you get more than you can finish for about five bucks, and they give you hot syrup and melted butter to put on it. The avgolemono soup's good, too, and the grilled cheese is excellent. When your menu is twenty or so pages long, it's hard to be entirely consistent -- I once had a basket of chicken strips and fries that I was unimpressed with, but that was the only letdown I've had there. I took my family there when they were in town, and have since heard that my uncle has been talking about their french toast for months. Highly recommend it.

    Give me that buffalo burger!

This was a fabulous, tasty, and very flavorful bison burger! I ordered it with cheese, but it didn't even need the cheese. I don't know if it was the flavor of buffalo compared to beef or just Nick's burgers overall, but it ws delicious! You've gotta try it!

I agree with the review on 10/17. Though it is open at all hours and the variety is excellent, the actual food is only mediocre. Combine that with the usual UWS price and you get a joint that is on the cusp of being hip/dive tourist trap.

    Best munchies in the city

Big Nick's is the only place to go when you want a great meal for a reasonable price. I highly recommend their milk shakes and chocolate mud cake. The service is very unpredictable, although not bad, in fact the poor service has made me enjoy the experience of going there even more. If Big Nick's ever closed, I'd feel like I lost a family member. I have yet to try the ostrich burger, although I'm sure I'll get to it some time or another.
