We were referred to Bice by a staff member of the Kiton shop in London. He used to work accross the street in what is probably one of the better if not best sartorias in the world. The restaurant food is OK, the ingredients are top notch, the cooking style is bland. The service and atmosphere is poor. Waiters abound, in rather unclean outfits and without a real appetite for true service. The quality of the property is poor, the bathrooms are substandard. The winelist is a joke. Wines are seriously overpriced, not worth the expense which is an issue when going for Italian food as the wine is such an important part of the experience. All in all, not the best Italian in NYC let alone in the counry by a few miles.

Have eaten here several times and find the food & service to be consistently good. If you are looking for a quiet place, Bice is not the place for you. Tends to be crowded and noisy especially on the weekends. A bit expensive but worth it. Reservations are a must.

We used to go to BICE regularly a few years ago and then stoped. Last night we went and were very disappointed. From the minute you walk in to your leaving the restaurant, from the hostess to the waiters and captain, no one was smiley or welcoming just plain rude. We felt it was a factory, no class and they don't care because the place was packed. It was an assembly line. The captain was not happy because we did not want bottled water but just plain water. The service was terrible and when the captain finally arrived to take the drinks order, very rudely asked "do you want drinks or just water". I would never spend another cent in that expensive factory. Shame on them.

Went on a busy Saturday night but our reservation was honored and we were seated right away. It was quite noisy and the tables are close together, so if you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway look elsewhere. That aside, the food was excellent. We each had a pasta dish and it was cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and efficient but they could have sold another 2 glasses of wine had they been a little more attentive. The price was not inexpensive but not terribly so. I would surely recommend Bice to anyone looking for a fine meal in an upscale italian restaurant.

i used to live in Florence and have traveled all over italy. i have to say not many restaurants can come close to the true experience, but this one does every time. i have been there several times and have always been satisfied.

After reading mixed reviews of this restaurant, I decided to go check it out myself. Even though I tried to like the restaurant and came with an open mind, the end result was dissapointing. I find it odd that people complain about the price of the place, after all, eveyone knows what the price is beforehand, if you don't like it - don't go. That being said, I thought that the value for the price was poor. The veal that I had was like a giant, plain slab of bland country fried steak, the service was excellent although the atmosphere was a bit loud (I went on a random Wed night). The best part of the dinner was probably the bread that they served - which was excellent. They were out of the tuna tartar appetizer at 8pm but my carpaccio was good. My date's lobster pasta was decent but lacked true flavor. All being said, there are much better restaurants for the $200+ (2 people) range in the city.

Special occassion dinner for my husband and I. We found a great bottle of chianti for a reasonable price. We had a great tricolore salad and wonderful minestrone, I usually don't care for minestrone, but this was not the thin watery kind. Very good. We both got pasta entrees. He had one with some kind of sausage which he really enjoyed and I had one with salmon and vegetables. Each of them had an incredible sauce....yum....and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The dessert menu is to die for. We shared one, which was fantastic, but there were many tempting ones listed. Atmosphere generally was good. Very busy. A bit on the noisy side. So if you want very romantic this is not it. They could use some good acoustical treatments, but it was still worth it for the quality of the food. We had great service.
