    Where is the food?

I had dinner here last Friday with a friend and although the place is charming and the service and food is good.... my complaint is that the portions are microscopic. My friend is a vegetarian and she order the califlower main course for $11.95 and there were 3 pieces of califlower. I ordered the Tiki Marsala and I had to dig through the sauce to find the chicken. If you are hungry skip this place.... if you are an model and watching every calorie then this is your place...

    Indian food at its best!

Great experience. The food was superb, I don't think I've eaten Indian food like it anywhere else. The service was fine considering it was Sat night and there were 20 ppl waiting outside for a table, the portions were just right (dont know why the reviewer below is feeling violated..what more do you expect for $12 in NYC at a chic restaurant that serves you?!). Besides its BYOB, you can't beat that! I will be going back for sure!

    Feeling violated

The portions at this restaurant are ridiculously small for indian food. The food is sold by the waitstaff as appropriate portions but they are not. They are way too small for the money you pay. Even the vegetable dishes which should be more abundant since they are vegetables and cheaper were so small. We ordered a cauliflower dish to share and the lamp chops. They gave us literally 5 pieces of cauliflower. It was ridiculous. I was so angry. My friend and I were still hungry after our entrees so we had to go somewhere else for food. We spent $40 for indian food on curry row which should have been much more satisfying. This was completely ridiculous for indian food. I've been to great indian gourmet restaurants which offer better portions than this place and have better food and service. Thoroughly disappointed. I will never eat here again nor recommend it to friends

Great value for your money, delicious food...an A+ overall!

I went to eat at Bhatti with 4 of my coworkers for dinner on Friday. The place was crowded, but the owner/manager seated us immediately. The servcie was decent, the food arrived hot and was perfectly spiced...the kababs are cooked really well (lamb shops were yum!), and the 3 curry dishes were superb (i think it was the chicken Xaouti or something, the korma and the paneer)...the atmosphere is cute and cozy, and the staff helpful. All in all a great find and experience, will def. return!

    Won't be going back......

My boyfriend and I visited Bhatti on Sunday 4th April 2010 - I have taken in to account that it was late'ish (around 10pm) that we ate there and Easter Sunday ....but nevertheless we won't be going back - overall it wasn't a great experience. We were given two complimentary poppadoms to start with...these were fine. We thought the decor of the place was quite nice, exposed brick wall on one side and fairly smart tables and chairs etc. I asked the waiter to reccomend a fairly hot curry, he said the Korma was popular....this is the mildest curry on any menu?? I informed him of this and he then told me that they could make any curry to your specification so I ordered a chicken tikka and requested that it be made quite spicy. We orderd the Paneer Tikka (I think this is the name?...) it was a cheese and spinach dish - this was the best thing we had. Then came the Salmon Tikka ( we sent this back as the salmon wasn't cooked) it would have also been helpful if the menu advised whether things came with a sauce or not ..as the salmon was completely dry. The rice came (you can't go too wrong with boiled white rice ....so that was fine) we had also ordered the five exotic vegetable mix ...I don't know about anyone else but I don't consider two baby corns maybe one square of green pepper and a selection of onions "five exotic vegetables" totally ridiculous. The Chicken tikka arrived and the meat was ok, but the sauce tasted like it was from a tin ...really not great and when the waiter had advised that Bhatti 'spice/season curry to your request' it must have meant 'pepper added if you wish' as the spice factor was zero but there was plenty of black specks of pepper in the sauce. The salmon then returned (cooked this time) and in consolation we were given a free second white boiled rice. We had to ask numerous times for the two plain naans we had orderd with our meals and when we finally got them - they were good - but there was no decent sauce to eat them with (see tikka comments above). Then the icing on the cake was the rude waitress, she had asked me mid way through our meal if everything was ok and to our satisfaction I replied "no" to which she sort of laughed uncomfortably and walked away...okayyy. The price was ok ...not great value at all considering how little we enjoyed it -we paid and with zero communication from the waitress we left..the waitress never said thank you and the whole time she was speaking to another colleague.
