Beygl boasts of having one of the best bagels and maybe some days that's true, but it isn't consistent enough in quality. I have had good bagels there before but this Sunday, not so much - a couple of bagels I bought were just ok, and one was hard as a rock - probably overcooked to begin with rather than stale, but either way, not pleasant to eat. Service is slow and with an attitude that distinguishes this spot in a bad way from its many local competitors. It seems that they have enough staff, but they can't seem to work in an organized way, so you'll wait a while even if all you want is a plain bagel to go.

This place is awesome. Great food, great delivery and affordable prices. One of the only places in he neighborhood that has kippered salmon on a bagel, which scores huge points with me. Great salads and sandwiches too. All around winner. Cute place, but they only have seating for three at the bar looking out the window.

Normally I'd never write a review of a place I'd only tried once - especially since I didn't even try their signature offering, bagels! - but I just had the best take out experience I've had in the slope for a while, so: the place is bright, clean, and exudes good feeling; the bagels smell heavenly; the folks behind the counter are super friendly and on top of things. I had their beet & goat cheese salad (asparagus, dark red seedless grapes, walnuts and little goat cheese rounds encrusted with nuts, beets and mesclun - only 6 bucks. 6. bucks.) and every item was sparkling fresh and delicious. For only 1.50 I added a piece of grilled chicken (moist, flavourful). All came very nicely wrapped up, including a separate little bag with a packet of crisp house-made bagel chips. Looking at their menu I was blown away by the combination of fresh, organic ingredients and low prices - can't think of anywhere around here that's doing anything like this. A breakfast sandwich of organic egg & applewood bacon sandwich on artisinal bread - 3.50. Almond butter on a bagel (very nice & unusual variety of bagels) - 3.50 ... smoked fish, fresh salads, gluten free options ... okay, I'll stop! Hope they get a ton of business. Maybe I'll run into some of you there when I go back :) 5 STARS PLUS for the combination of excellent food and affordability!
