Good food, cozy unpretentious atmosphere
The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, and the light from the brick oven adds a warm glow to the dining room. It's the kind of place where you can get a nice meal without feeling the need to get too dressed up. I had the cornish game hen cooked under a brick. The skin was beautifully crisp, while the meat remained moist, and nicely flavored with rosemary. My partner had the gnocci, which she said had a nice, light sauce that had a distinct basil flavor. All of the pizzas we saw ordered around us looked and smelled really good. If we weren't so full, we would have ordered one of those too!

The new best Italian on the UWS
The afumicata pizza is to die for, and the meat and pasta dishes are equally tasty. Nicely edited, affordable wine list and good service. I've never been disappointed.

Best Pizza
Brilliant thin crust - thought I was either in Italy or Switzerland. Because they are so good at them they should have a bigger selection. This is a gem of a find and I can't get enough of the place.

Exceptional
I've forgotten what my kitchen looks like since discovering Bettola. The food is exceptional, both the main menu and daily specials using the best seasonal produce (stuffed artichokes in white wine are my favorite so far), and of course, the real Napolitan pizza. Desserts are great, especially the fresh fruit granitas (often the result of the owner's experiments with his favorite fruit of the moment. And FINALLY there is somewhere to get a real coffee on the Upper West (up there with Via Quadronno and St Ambrose).

fantastic!
the staff is generous and eager to please, the ambiance is rustic and relaxed, but it was the food that knocked our socks off-esp. anything out of the wood burning oven. this is no ordinary upper westside italian. we will return!!
