Finally a good German joint in New York
I hate to say it, but I have until now never found a German place in New York that wasn't a caricature of German cuisine. I've been to Berlyn four time since it opened, and it keeps getting better. Brought some friends from out of town on my third visit, they were blown away. The cocktails are phenomenal, especially the holiday cocktail I had last week, not to be missed! The short ribs are great, the braised red cabbage is the best I have ever had. Get anything on the menu that comes with the pretzel dumplings, they should be available as a small plate they are so delicious. Beer selection is small, but you're here for the food, head up to the beer hall around the corner for your 1L Weihenstephan. The hazelnut pie is delicious, seriously, save room for dessert. This place is still getting settled, I also recommend checking the schedule for BAM if you want to avoid the pre-show rush.
