I travel to NYC every month and this is one of my top five favorite places to eat. The bagels are amazing!

i love this bagel shop. in my personal opinion, their bagels are the best in NYC. i love the fact that they are vegan-friendly by offering some tofu cream cheese options besides all the other kinds of cream cheese. the portion of one bagel is pretty big.

I was looking forward to trying one of the cream cheese selections, since they look amazing. And I wasn't disappointed in the cream cheese itself. I was irritated by the fact that I asked for 1/2 the amount of cream cheese they would normally put on (because I don't like too much), and I was told that I would be charged $2 extra. I double and triple checked that I was hearing the guy correctly. And yes, indeed, they will charge $2 extra if you want less cream cheese. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, and it says to me that they are trying to squeeze money out of people for any reason they possibly can. Also, the iced coffee that I ordered was lukewarm. It wasn't even cool, let alone "iced". It was like drinking something that had been sitting around for 2 hours. Gross! They shouldn't advertise iced coffee drinks if the stuff they deliver is not iced. Even though I walk by this place every single day, I will never go in there again, simply because the $2 charge for less cream cheese is an insult to customers. I hope the owners reconsider this absurd policy. And if (for some reason) the employee misinformed me, they need to train their employees better!!

Normally I stop at Bergen Bagels for a quick breakfast or lunch. I am always greeted by the kind and courteous staff, and have yet to be disappointed with the delicious food. I think it's super rad that they offer different varietals of whole wheat bagels, and eating the cream cheese at BB's is without a doubt one of my favorite artery clogging past times. Today I ventured out of my carbohydrate comfort zone and opted for a salad instead. It's nothing gourmet or over the top, but it's 7 bucks and well worth it. I chose crispy, crunchy fresh dark Romaine leaves as a base, juicy tight skinned cherry tomatoes, whole black olives, generous chunks of feta cheese and starchy chickpeas for this particular salad. It was BIG and it was SCRUMPTIOUS. I'm not really sure if this review was even necessary, seeing as I've never heard anything negative about this place. I just think they deserve their props. I look forward to each and everyone of those homemade moist, often warm bready circles of goodness and will continue to do so for as long as I live in Brooklyn. Let's just say that if Bergen Bagels ever screws up, I will still go back because the good will always outweigh the non existent bad. Go. Eat. And remember although people may initially judge you for eating three bagels in one sitting, this is a huge city and you will probably never see that person again.

I am surprised no one else has reviewed Bergen Bagels. Great bagels! Great black and white cookies! How can you possibly go wrong? Oddly, no lox.
