Most of the food is good(especially the kabobs), but other stuff, well....For example, I ordered the white bean salad, and the beans weren't even slightly cooked--crunchy! Their tabouli is not fresh and mostly tasteless, and the falafel is only so-so. The sevice is highly disorganized. And for the so many people that they have behind the counter, the service is ultra-slow.

Ok, the food here is fantastic. Great value for what you're getting. However, beware when you show up late night, especially on the weekends. They know people are stumbling in here drunk late night, and my friends and I have had multiple instances where they tried to take advantage and rip you off. For example, if you purchase a $3.5 sandwich, they will say, $7. They will also try to shortchange your bill (you hand them a $20 and they give you change back for $10). The food is good just pay attention to the price on the menu and your bill.

i grew up in michigan where there is a large middle eastern population, this is the best chicken shish kebab i've had in new york, the falafel is not good, but everything else is very good, nowadays the workers are very friendly too.

My husband moved from Germany, where many Turks live, to the Washington, DC and has been dreaming to taste again "Duner", a turkish version of gyro or shawerma. Two years ago, we found this place. The search was finally over, my husband found the only place that has an authentic Duner. "Exactly how they make it in Germany", he says. Everytime we travel to NYC we have to include Bereket in our trip, otherwise my husband comes back home disappointed. We are going to NYC tomorrow and Bereket will be our first stop.

I agree with the reviewer who says it's overhyped. There isn't much that sets it apart in my mind from other, similar places. I've been there a few times and never ate anything that was truly outstanding. You get what you expect for the price - food that satisfies your hunger inexpensively, but doesn't make a lasting taste impression on you. Which is perfectly fine - sometimes you just want to get the job done. The counter people have always been friendly in my experience, I totally agree.
