We tried out Bento Burger based on the positive reviews at Menupages. 4 1/2 stars? What? We've been sitting here for an hour and fifteen minutes. Our appetizers just arrived about 5-10 minutes ago and our entrees and sides are nowhere to be seen. There is one overworked waitress who can't handle the volume of orders by herself. The food is truly uninspired. Spring rolls that you buy in a box from the frozen food section at the supermarket. A salad that consisted of a few leaves of lettuce, some julienned apple, and a handful of Craisins. No dressing. Some soggy Buffalo wings we didn't order. A salad that was someone else's order given to us by accident that we didn't eat. I'd like to comment on the burgers if they ever show up. ... Okay, one and a half hours into this ordeal, we received a mealy beef "sirloin" burger and a "bulgogi" burger that was...a regular hamburger. Both were unappetizing. I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites. We gave up waiting for our sides. Don't come here unless you have several hours of your life to waste waiting for mediocre food.

Guess it seems better if you're drunk?

Mmm Mmm Mmm, So Dericioussss!
Best burger I have ever eaten. It looks beaten up but the flavor is amazing. Ate here with my BFF and parents....all of us decreed these burgers (we ordered 4 different options) to be juicy, flavorful, not too salty with excellent quality beef. These are fairly straightforward, not too fussy burgers. Personally, I do not like the shake shack burgers, nor do I like $22 dollar overly gourmet burgers. Good fries, crisp onion rings. For these prices, truly excellent value. I was also impressed by the attractive and overly friendly staff, most of whom where female. I am gay, but they made me question why. What's better than a great meal served by women you would take home to your parents? but since i brought mine with me, there would be no need to.

Yum yum burgers!
Well, this is the perfect fusion of my two favorite dining objectives, burgers and asian. Great burgers and dim sum, obviously, fantastic and cheap drinks. Great decor, I would love to have this guy do my apartment! Second time there, first when just opened and the service not there, second time, everything on point. It's not the cheapest burger place in the East Village, but you get tons of food in your bento box and the portions are very generous.

great idea, execution TBD
Having just opened in early May, Bento Burger is still in the process of streamlining its menu and service. However, the idea is fantastic - Japanese-inspired American fare. Some highlights: avocado aioli, Kobe beef, tempura green beans with wasabi mayo, and picked mango slaw. The sweet potato fries came a bit soggy and over greased, and the veggie burger was unseasoned, but the sheer number of imaginative sides made the meal overall worthwhile. Worth a shot once the staff and chefs get some more practice - can really see this place taking off!
