    once is enough

The waiter loused up our order & then lied about it. When we called him over -- after he let us sit around for 45 minutes without glancing at us -- he checked the kitchen and came back and said our order would be right out. He then went directly to the computer (obviously to put the order in, which he'd neglected to do before). He then came over and told us some dopey story about the kitchen having to send out for some ingredient it was missing. (The steak? The potatoes?) We then waited another 15-20 minutes for the food to come. The hanger steak was (according to my companion) entirely devoid of flavor. My quenelles (served, oddly, in a casserole dish) were obviously reheated -- the sauce Nantua was burnt and oddly congealed. (I had sole with sauce Nantua at Benoit in Paris last year, and it was to die for.) It was too late to send it back, because we were already close to being late for our concert. Don't think we'll be going there again.

    One of my favorite spots!!

I absolutely love this restaurant! Not just that it is a warm, cosy and welcoming, the food is just delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Its quite and easy to discuss with your dinner company without getting interrupted and disturbed by noise like at so many other NYC spots. I always take the Hanger steak with "frites" and loove it! My boyfriend always goes for the chicken paillard which he loves. I also tried the goat cheese and tomato tart appetizer which is amazing! Service is good, could be a little bit more attentive..

    Just Great

Tried this on the reccomendation of a friend. It was wonderful, the $38 pre fixe is excellent value. This is my new favorite restaurant, its a real grown up spot. Love the crowd, love the food. The liver was sublime as was the house Ravioli. Just the best upscale french Bistro in town.

    In love with the Food!!!

I would highly recommend this place. The jumbo lump crab salad was nothing I could have imagined but it was amazing!! My favorite entrée there is the half Maine lobster ravioli… by far the best I’ve ever had. The dessert was fabulous as well!! GO THERE!

    Bonjour Paris!

The $1 egg Mayo is great!! If you like deviled eggs, this is a fun take on the classic dish. The atmosphere at the bar is so chic and cool. I love the black and white decor... and on Wednesdays, they have live jazz as well !

    good food

Had the pre-fixe "Restaurant Week" dinner last week. Each course was very good: Asperagus in puff pastry; Skate wing; and a delicious Raspberry tarte. However, the atmosphere was very noisy (often a sign that the restaurant wants to get table turnover as rapidly as possible) and particularly shameful was the obliteration of the former "La Cote Basque's" beautiful wall murals !

Better for a drink than to eat

Arrived at 7:30 and were seated promptly as the restaurant was filling up. Service was good as well as the price points on the menu. Appetizers were the crab salad (did not know there would be so much mayonaise in it), the ceasar salad and the escargot. Main courses were the roasted chicken for 2 (nicely done) and the salmon with a tarragon cream sauce (a bit too heavy for my liking) and maybe 8 vegetables on the plate. Food was ok not great and will not be running back anytime soon.
