    One Word: Awesome

This place is the best. A trip to New York would not be complete without 2-3 visits to Benitos and/or Benito II. I liked it so much their menu is framed in my dining room. Incomparable manicoti and prices that are manageable. Very much worth the trip(s).

An all around excellent place to eat

I ate at Benito on Mulberry a few weeks ago with my father and the food was unbelievable. I was really impressed with the quality of the service as well. I plan on going there with the old lady in a few weeks. A very romantic place to chow!

    Barely adequate

I am italian and am generally not too happy with the italian restaurants in "Little Italy" as a whole. Here, I had the fried zucchini and the spaghetti carbonara. The zucchini was ok (can't really harm it) but the spaghetti carbonara was lacking. Granted, americans make carbonara differently than we do in italy (use cream rather than just egg yolks), but here the pasta was undercooked (read hard). The sauce was just alfredo sauce that had 2 tiny slivers of guincale in it and nothing else. Would not recommend. My companion got the rigatoni alla vodka. Was ok, but again nothing special.

    Divine

This is my all time favorite Italian Restaurants. Avoid at all costs during San Gennaro..too crazy. I have eaten at both Benito One and Benito Two. The service was superb and food was top notch. If I lived upstairs I would eat there every day if I could..Baked Clams..Tortellini stuffed with cheese with alfredo sauce..tiramisu..everything excellent. I have eaten there for years and it's my favorite restaurant on the block and in Manhattan.

    Don't waste your time

We read the previous reviews and decided to go as a group of four people, and we did not have a pleasant experience at all. The waiter was alright, and the food was edible. We have had better Italian food in other places in the area. IF you are going to go, make sure you leave the restaurant before 10 pm; they started cleaning the kitchen when we were almost done eating. The noxious fumes from the bleach, made us nauseous and sick.

    Benito I Recommendation 5*

I visted Benito I on Feb 28 2004 with my partner. We had decided on Italian food, and found this restaurant by accident, while walking through Little Italy. From the outside this place looks very cosy. Inside we were seated at a nice table (against the wall). We had an appetizer of mussels that was excellent. My shrimp entree was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. There was plenty to share, and I still could barely finish my meal. What a feast. The wait staff was exceptionally nice. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It's difficult to choose with so many options in NYC but we really lucked out this night. I LV NY (Happy Visitor from Canada)

    Give Genci a raise!

I was just in Benito One this past Sunday for dinner with a friend.I am from Rochester,New York...and the Italian food at this Restaurant is as good as my grandmothers! I can't say that about many places....Genci was our waiter, and he was a complete gentleman, and went out of his way to make sure my friend Sarah and I had a great time.Next time I come to New York,I hope he is still there, because he was as wonderful as the food. Thanks Again! Keep up the good work! *Muy Guapo* Monica,in Rochester
